Peacemaker season 2 US release date finally confirmed by James Gunn

Previously, the head of DC, James Gunn, hinted at Peacemaker season 2 premiering in August. Now, he’s given a more precise date along with details about its content.

In Season 1, it was John Cena who put on the somewhat outlandish Peacemaker outfit following the memorable introduction of the character in Gunn’s film, The Suicide Squad.

As a devoted cinephile, I found myself deeply moved by the renowned series that delved into the complex life of an anti-hero. This character was on a journey of self-discovery, confronting his haunting past. The more he acted in the name of peace, taking lives of both men and women, children included, the more I began to question if this so-called ‘peace’ wasn’t tainted by its own brand of violence.

In Season 2, he’s expected to be challenged as he applies his recent grasp of empathy, and Gunn revealed on X when it will air.

He expressed his excitement by saying, “I’m eagerly awaiting Peace on Earth. I recently completed the Design and Mix for the Season Premiere, and it’s one of my all-time favorites. He then confirmed that the season will be available on HBO Max in the US starting on Thursday 21st August 2025.

Additionally, Gunn posted a sneak peek at the upcoming season with clips featuring Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo reminding him that he’s a superhero from now on, and Jennifer Holland’s Agent Emilia Harcourt getting ready to dish out some tough action.

For the UK, a specific release date hasn’t been announced as of now, but it’s expected that the new season will be broadcast on Sky Max and NOW, similar to how season 1 was shown.

A full trailer is likely to follow in the coming weeks.
