Own the Iconic Cardcaptor Sakura Wand – But There’s a Catch!

Fervent anime enthusiasts, particularly those who adore magical girls, have long cherished the fantasy of becoming one themselves. However, with Premium Bandai, this dream is edging closer to reality as they bring to life the legendary Star Sealing Wand from Cardcaptor Sakura. This replica wand, meticulously crafted, serves double duty as a display piece for collectors and a prop for cosplayers. To sweeten the deal, the Season 3 opening theme, “Platinum,” can be played via the wand. The only caveats are that it’s only available for pre-order from April 7 to June 6, 2025, and it’s exclusively sold in Japan.

Although it’s available for pre-order, the wand won’t be delivered to customers until October at the earliest. The cost is ¥7,480, which is about $50 in U.S. dollars. This isn’t the first time a replica of this Sealing Wand has been made; FuRyu, another well-known figure manufacturer, produced a replica of the Clear Card Sealing Wand as well.

Cardcaptor Sakura Is a Genre-Defining Magical Girl Franchise

First conceived by the female manga collective known as Clamp in 1996, “Cardcaptor Sakura” tells the story of Sakura Kinomoto, a ten-year-old girl living a tranquil life in the fictional town of Tomoeda. Her peaceful existence is disrupted when she inadvertently unleashes a mystical set of cards called the “Clow Cards” from a magical book hidden in her basement, which was created by the sorcerer Clow Reed. Cerberus, also known as Keroberos, the guardian of these cards, then appears before her and mandates that only someone with magical abilities can retrieve them. To accomplish this task, Sakura must transform using her powers and utilize her unique Sealing Wand to return each card back into the book. During her quest, she encounters a young boy named Syaoran Li – a relative of Clow Reed – who travels to Japan in an attempt to capture the cards himself. Throughout much of the series, Sakura and Syaoran engage in friendly competition, but eventually develop a friendship.

Cardcaptor Sakura, similar to many shojo series from that era, swiftly became an essential reading option for manga enthusiasts worldwide, and it remains remarkably relevant even now. Just like other manga catering to the shojo audience, Cardcaptor Sakura emphasizes the richness of character relationships and utilizes their histories and traits to guide their actions. To add to this, CLAMP’s classic art style, which is still highly regarded in the industry over 28 years after its debut, plays a significant role. The original anime adaptation also gained iconic status by expanding on the manga’s narrative by introducing additional Clow Cards for Sakura to capture and providing more screen time for each character. Overall, the franchise was visionary in its approach, and it continues to be cherished by fans today.
