Nintendo Switch 2 Won’t Have Achievements, Surprising No One

For decades now, both PlayStation and Xbox have incorporated system-wide reward systems known as Trophies and Achievements respectively. However, Nintendo has consistently declined to participate in this trend. Despite speculation that the upcoming Switch 2 might include a comparable feature, it appears that will not be the case.

According to Nintendo’s Vice President of Player and Product Experience, Bill Trinen, when questioned about the Switch 2 having a feature similar to Xbox’s Achievements or PlayStation’s Trophies by Polygon, he answered in the negative. For fans eager to savor triumphs in Nintendo games, they can still indulge with the upgraded Switch 2 reissues of beloved titles like “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and the upcoming “Tears of the Kingdom“. However, it appears that system-wide accomplishments will continue to evade us. This isn’t entirely surprising given Nintendo’s history.

The new Nintendo Switch version, referred to as Nintendo Switch 2, is scheduled for release on June 5 worldwide, except in the United States due to possible effects of tariffs on its price. Pre-orders for this device will start from April 9 everywhere else.
