Disney Illusion Island Might be Coming to PS5 – Rumour

It appears that “Disney Illusion Island,” a game initially only available on the Nintendo Switch, could be expanding to multiple platforms in the future. This speculation arises as evidence suggests a PlayStation 5 version of the game, featuring Mickey Mouse and friends, has been spotted on the PlayStation Store servers, although Disney has yet to confirm any plans for a multiplatform release in 2023.

As per PSDeals’ store description, the game titled “Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey and Friends” for PS5 is expected to retain all the features of its Nintendo Switch debut. Notably, it supports offline multiplayer for 2-4 players. Moreover, the title for this PS5 version has an added suffix “Starring Mickey and Friends,” which could suggest potential extra content in the game.

Based on the presence of the game’s listing in Sony’s server, it seems that an official announcement about its release might be coming up soon.

Previously announced in September 2022, “Disney Illusion Island” made its debut on the Nintendo Switch in July 2023. The game unveiled a trailer prior to its launch, offering a sneak peek at the assortment of tasks that players will encounter as they traverse the famed Illusion Island.

The title also includes some features more commonly seen in metroidvania titles, with players having the ability to swim, jump and wall-jump, among other things, depending on the character they choose to play as. The base game featured Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy as its primary protagonists. Each character also has co-op abilities where multiple players can support each other in their exploration.

Upon launch, “Disney Illusion Island” garnered generally favorable responses, earning an aggregate score of 73 on Metacritic. In our review, we commended the game for its stunning graphics, smooth animations, well-designed levels, and clever writing. However, we did note some drawbacks such as a scarcity of combat, inconsistent boss battles, and the game falling short in complexity compared to typical metroidvania titles. In the end, we awarded “Disney Illusion Island” 8 out of 10 points, appreciating its broad appeal and user-friendly interface.
