John Stamos Defends Mar-a-Lago Appearance: Supporting Nurses, Not Politics

John Stamos is setting the record straight.

After the former star of “Full House” unexpectedly hosted an event on April 5 at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, which drew criticism online, he spoke about his choice to take part in the evening’s activities.

John shared on his Instagram Stories on April 7 that he agreed to host the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala, a special event designed to acknowledge and inspire our frontline heroes. Notably, this non-political event is backing The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations.

He pointed out that the nonprofit annually educates approximately 350-400 nurses, thereby tackling head-on the acute scarcity of healthcare professionals in Palm Beach County.

The 61-year-old emphasized that backing nurses isn’t a matter of politics—it’s vital. They are the ones who look after us and our loved ones in our time of greatest need, and I feel we should stand by them as steadfastly as they stand by us each day.

John strongly highlighted the significance of three key aspects: healthcare, serving others, and putting resources into individuals who look after our communities.

So, what happened in the evening? The Palm Beach Ray of Hope Foundation organized their Dancing with Local Palm Beach Luminaries event. This event saw local community leaders partnering with professional dancers to showcase their dance routines. Former contestants from Dancing with the Stars, Artem Chigvintsev and Karina Smirnoff, were the judges for this competition.

John underlined the fact that even with his prominent position at the event, his personal values and political beliefs continue to stay the same.

Indeed, during the 2024 presidential election, the actor openly supported Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, expressing his thoughts about the nation’s current political situation.

On Election Day, he posted on Instagram expressing his viewpoint that our nation is at a critical juncture, and like many others, he yearns for a time when we can achieve unity and shared values. He is convinced that our shared qualities outnumber our differences, and fundamentally, we all aspire for the well-being of our loved ones, neighborhoods, and country. This conviction fuels his hope for a nation characterized by justice, empathy, and advancement.

Looking forward, it’s clear whom I intend to vote for, he added. What we need now is a leader who emphasizes unity and works diligently to mend the gaps that have widened in recent years. My aspiration is that this election will inspire a renewed effort towards uniting people, encouraging discussions, and fighting for justice and equality for everyone.

He summarized, “It’s important to recall, regardless of our disparities, we all belong to the same human race. Here’s hoping this election will lead us toward healing, unity, and optimism.
