Best Shortcuts To Use In Atomfall

Summary

  • Atomfall lacks fast travel, but has varied shortcuts for interconnected world exploration.
  • The Secret Tunnel feels less valuable compared to other shortcuts due to proximity advantages.
  • Skethermoor entrance to the Interchange is a useful, guarded shortcut to reach distant areas quickly.

In the case of Atomfall, one common complaint is the absence of quick transportation methods. Given that this game emphasizes both exploration and revisiting locations, it seems reasonable to expect some sort of fast-travel system. However, players find themselves having to walk from place to place instead.

Yet, this concern diminishes significantly when one reflects upon the vast array of shortcuts that foster a sense of global connectedness and stimulate in-depth discovery. Locating these shortcuts may prove to be a task, with some being more advantageous than others; however, determining the optimal one becomes the question at hand.

4.

Secret Tunnel

Wyndham Village To Skethermoor

In Atomfall, many shortcuts prove incredibly useful, making it rather unexpected when compared to the seemingly useless Secret Tunnel. More often than not, you’ll come across the Wyndham Village entrance, which can be discovered in the cellar beneath the pub known as Grendel’s Head.

After investigating the cellar, you’ll stumble upon a somewhat concealed access point leading to a tunnel, which snakes its way through caves teeming with Oberon creatures. This journey eventually exits you into Shethermoor via an underground bunker. This new feature is quite exciting and fits well within the storyline as it provides a smuggling route. However, considering how simple it is to traverse from Wyndham Village to Shethermoor by simply walking through the gates, this alternative path seems more like a riskier, longer detour.

3.

Slate Mine Caves

Slatten Dale To Skethermoor

Instead of heading north when leaving the tutorial bunker, try going east instead. This path may lead you to your first encounter with hostile outlaws before eventually uncovering the entrance to the Slate Mine Caves. It’s advisable to bypass an NPC that seems to be hanging around one corner of the caves. Instead, follow a route that takes you out to the other side of Slatten Dale, which also happens to be a convenient shortcut.

However, if you’re up for a bit more daring interaction, consider approaching Reg, one of the friendliest characters you’ll encounter initially. Not only does he function as a secretive merchant, but he’s also strategically placed near the entrance to Skethermoor. Typically, there’s no straightforward path from Slatten Dale to Skethermoor, so this route is particularly advantageous.

2.

The Sewer Tunnels

Slatten Dale Entrance

In the game Atomfall, you’ll discover that the Sewer Tunnels form one of two intricate shortcut networks. The initial access point for these tunnels is located in Slatten Dale, prior to entering Wyndham Village. Interestingly, there are actually two entryways to the Sewer Tunnels on the northern side of the region before you reach Wyndham Village.

1. The initial access point is situated close to a tiny pond, just beyond Wyndham Village’s main entry, and if you successfully navigate the piranhas, this path can lead you to an additional entrance for Wyndham Village.

2. The secondary access, however, offers greater flexibility as it allows for more exploration of the sewers. To gain entry, though, you must acquire a key from Molly who resides near her campfire within the confines of Wyndham Village.

Wyndham Village Entrance

Among the places that don’t require additional shortcut paths, Wyndham Village stands out. It offers several authorized entry points leading to Casterfell Woods, Slatten Dale, and Skethermoor. Although it’s considered trespassing, navigating your way into the Interchange is relatively simple as well.

As a gamer, I’ve found that the Wyndham Village entrance to the Sewer Tunnels isn’t typically a bustling path for my character. It’s a bit of a haul to reach and offers only marginal convenience over other routes when you’re just starting out. However, as more internal gates open up, it might become worth the detour. But generally, there are less arduous ways to navigate around the map.

Casterfell Woods Entrance

Similar to Slatten Dale, there are two main access points to the Sewer Tunnels nestled within Casterfell Woods. The most conspicuous is smack dab in the center of the map and conveniently situated right within the heart of druid territory. This entrance, being a swift passage, allows for easy navigation through Casterfell Woods’ core, but it’s essential to keep in mind that it will discharge you near a group of potentially hostile druids, so exercise caution.

The southern gateway is slightly concealed and since the south side of Casterfell Woods has fewer connection points, it’s beneficial to remember this path. This hidden entrance could prove useful if your goal is to approach druid lands without directly confronting them head-on.

1.

The Interchange

Slatten Dale Entrance

In Atomfall’s map, the Interchange is unquestionably the most efficient mode of transportation, particularly towards the latter stages of the game. However, upon your initial exploration, more than likely when you enter via Slatten Dale, it won’t exactly welcome you with open arms.

During your initial exploration, you won’t be able to venture far within the vast structure, but later in the game, this entryway will prove beneficial as an escape route. It’s conveniently located from the central command room and will place you in a spacious area of Slatten Dale that is straightforward to navigate.

Wyndham Village Entrance

You don’t have to hurry to open the Wyndham Village gate leading to the Interchange. It’s not very beneficial for travel since it provides access to only a small portion of the Interchange. Also, be aware that the entrance is monitored and entering it while in Wyndham Village is considered trespassing.

Despite its poor security, the entryway to Wyndham Village is surprisingly lax under Protocol supervision. This route might not be very practical for navigating the map since Wyndham Village is centrally located, but it offers one of the quickest paths to reach the central chamber in the Interchange.

Casterfell Woods Entrance

The entryway into the Interchange from Casterfell Woods is beneficial in terms of the vast expanse of the Interchange it grants you access to. However, when considering it as a practical shortcut, it’s not one of the more advantageous entry points to the Interchange. It’s crucial for progressing the story, but not particularly useful for saving time or bypassing obstacles.

This is less convenient because the entrance to the Interchange lies next to the boundary between Casterfell Woods and Wyndham Village, whereas taking the open-world path is more straightforward when traveling between these two areas. However, Casterfell Woods is fairly distant from Skethermoor and Slatten Dale, making this route a useful option for traversing among these three zones, particularly if you’re heading to Skethermoor, which lacks an underground tunnel.

Skethermoor Entrance

Outside the Slate Mine Caves gateway, Skethermoor stands as one of the less connected areas due to the impractical Secret Tunnel linking it with Wyndham Village. Consequently, the route from Skethermoor to the Interchange in the game is one of the most beneficial shortcuts, given its strategic location and isolation.

This entrance provides access to hard-to-reach sections within the Interchange and serves as the fastest route from Skethermoor to Casterfell Woods. However, it’s essential to note that it’s heavily guarded in Protocol territory; nevertheless, if you’re allied with the Protocol or quite stealthy, this shouldn’t pose too many challenges.
