As an ardent Animal Crossing enthusiast, I was eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the next installment in the series during last week’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. Regrettably, no definite announcement has been made about the release date for a new Animal Crossing game following New Horizons. Yet, while we wait, there are numerous engaging, cozy games to temporarily satisfy our Animal Crossing cravings.
Today, I’m thrilled to share that Might & Delight, the developer behind the scene, has announced a game that evokes strong Animal Crossing feels with its focus on decorating, reminiscent of Tiny Glade, and incorporates elements of floating islands, similar to Disney Dreamlight Valley. Best part? It’s set for release this year!
The game under discussion goes by the name “Twinkleby”, and it hails from the same developer who has previously created games such as “Book of Travels” and “Tiny Echo”. As for its launch, while an exact date hasn’t been set, it is anticipated to be released this year on PC through Steam. In conjunction with the formal announcement of their upcoming comfortable game, Might & Delight unveiled a brief teaser trailer to provide players with an idea of the ambiance they can anticipate from this new cozy game.
The game is set on drifting islands where players can personalize the surroundings as they wish, resembling experiences like Tiny Glade, where aesthetics take priority over traditional fetch quests often found in games such as Animal Crossing. However, decorating these islands isn’t just for fun; it helps draw new inhabitants to your expanding island community, similar to Animal Crossing or the process of decorating visitor cottages in Hello Kitty: Island Adventure.
What We Know About New Cozy Game Twinkleby So Far
For many enthusiasts of comfortable gaming experiences, certain features are almost essential to make our cherished relaxing games enjoyable. However, it’s important to note that every cozy gamer is unique and we appreciate seeing new games experiment with fresh ideas to keep the genre exciting. Although there are elements in “Twinkleby” that have a sense of familiarity, the game does offer some distinctive features that give it its own take on the relaxing decorating atmosphere. Here’s a brief look at the gameplay mechanics based on what Might & Delight has revealed so far.
In this game, you’ll create and embellish communities on floating islands. By gathering shooting stars called Stellars, a special currency, you can unlock fresh items at the antique shop. These items can be used to adorn your islands. The more houses you furnish, the more residents will move into your floating island neighborhoods. In fact, they might even reward you if they find your decor appealing!
Twinkleby offers a distinctive feature: customizing the weather, season, and setting for your islands. Changing the surroundings results in a corresponding adjustment of the background music, thereby enhancing the ambiance and uniqueness when decorating.
If you find yourself anxious about strict deadlines, rest assured that Twinkleby doesn’t include any time-bound objectives in its gameplay. This means you can enjoy the game at a leisurely pace, taking your time to decorate and immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery without fretting over meeting specific deadlines to win over new villagers to your virtual space.
2025 is when I’ll be making my debut on PC via Steam, and so far, there’s no word about any other platforms joining the party.
