Indeed, the Duchess of Sussex subtly reminisced about the criticism she and Prince Harry endured from the British press a few years back, which includes their children Archie Harrison (age 5) and Lilibet “Lili” Dianna (age 3). She also revealed the guiding principle that helped her persevere during that challenging time.

She explained, “These vines were here when we moved in, which sparked my passion for jam and preserve-making.” As for her preferred preserve, that remains to be revealed.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, shared that she enjoys making preserves like apple butter because it reminds her of something sentimental from her childhood. She even gave a sneak peek into how Prince Harry prefers his dishes seasoned – he adds salt to every meal before tasting it. In the second episode, Megan shared that she adjusts her own seasoning habits because of this, trying not to over-salt due to Harry’s preference for a salty kick!

Meghan expressed her fondness for a style known as “high-low,” where she combines high-end with more affordable clothing items. For instance, while hosting Mindy Kaling for a tea party in episode two, she donned Zara pants, a Loro Piana top, and a sweater by Jenni Kayne.

The series highlights Meghan’s passion for hosting, cooking, gardening, and decorating, but it also uncovers some lesser-known aspects of her interests. For example, in one episode, she organizes a game night with her friends where they learn to play mahjong together. As she mentioned, “We’ve all picked up mahjong in the past few months. Mahjong originated in China during the 1800s, and we play an American version of it. What I’ve come to appreciate about mahjong is that it serves as a means of learning something new alongside your friends and watching friendships blossom with the game acting as the backdrop.”

In another episode, Vicky Tsai, the founder of Tatcha, disclosed Meghan’s fondness for pickleball. Moreover, Meghan herself shared some of her preferred music genres.

In the fifth episode, Meghan shared that she enjoys a vast array of music, including ’70s soft rock, yacht rock, soul, and some unique French tunes reminiscent of dinner parties. When it comes to food, her spice tolerance is extremely high.

Growing up, we may not have had much, but we sure did explore various parts of the world,” she shared. “My mother was a travel agent, which allowed us to sample an array of cuisines and cultures. One dish that has always stood out for me is gumbo – a Soul food specialty known for its rich flavors and spicy kick. It’s something I can’t get enough of, and it’s the level of heat that draws me in. As I share my love for this cuisine with my family, I find myself constantly seeking out dishes with similar flavors.

In episode two, Meghan reminisced about her childhood, saying, “It seems like a completely different era now, but back then, it was completely normal for me to consume a lot of fast food and TV tray dinners – you know, those microwavable kids’ meals that came with compartments… I used to spend my time watching Jeopardy! and consuming lots of fast food.” When asked about her favorites at the time, she responded, “I was a big fan of Pollo Loco and Taco Bell, especially their Mexican pizzas drenched in extra hot sauce. And let’s not forget Jack in the Box, because my mom adored their tacos.

Yet, those weren’t the only recollections she reminisced about from her youthful days. Moreover, Meghan talked about her experiences within the Girl Scouts as well.

She mentioned in the fourth episode that she had been a Girl Scout for quite some time. It all began when she was around five or six years old as a Daisy, and she sold numerous boxes of cookies. Her mother served as the troop leader for Troop 949.

Following their withdrawal from active royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan retained their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

In her book With Love, Meghan, she elaborated on why the Sussex title holds such significance for her.

“It’s amusing that you persistently refer to me as Meghan Markle,” Meghan said to Mindy in episode two. “You see, I’m Sussex now. As a parent, you say, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ I didn’t realize how profoundly it would resonate with me, but it signifies so much to be able to say, ‘This is our family name.
