The animated series “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake” is moving forward in the creation of Season 2, edging closer to its premiere following an update from production. This spin-off series originated as a concept pitched by Ice King in the original “Adventure Time,” but it has since grown into a standalone animated show in its own right. Since making its debut a few years back, “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake” has garnered significant attention from animation enthusiasts.
The popular spinoff, “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake,” generated immense success for the franchise, leading to a confirmed return for its second season. Since the announcement of its second season, there’s been little news until recently, when a staff member’s update from production indicated that animatic work on the series is set to be completed this Summer. This development brings us one step closer to seeing the new episodes in full. [Spotted by @RegularTweetsUK on X.]
Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Season 2 Gets Production Update
Nick Lomauro, animator of Adventure Time spin-off Fionna and Cake, announced on LinkedIn that they are set to complete their animatic work for Season 2 by late May or early June. This marks a significant development after a prolonged period of silence regarding the second season. However, since this is one of the initial stages, it’s likely that we won’t see new episodes until much later – potentially as late as late 2025 or early 2026. As the production schedule unfolds, we might start to get sneak peeks into Season 2.
Back in 2024, when asked about the upcoming season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, its showrunner Adam Muto mentioned they were in the middle stages of production at that time. He added that there was no confirmed release date as of then, but it likely wouldn’t be until the following year. If this timeline remains consistent, it seems possible that we might expect the animated series to air towards the end of 2025, assuming everything goes smoothly in the production process.
What to Know for Adventure Time’s Future
The second season of “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake” is being developed, continuing directly from where the first season ended. With a confirmed total of ten episodes, it’s set to stream on Max, just like its previous season. Additionally, there’s another exciting project in the pipeline for the “Adventure Time” franchise – Warner Bros. Animation has revealed that they are now creating “The Adventure Time Movie.
In collaboration with Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar, Over The Garden Wall co-creator Patrick McHale, and Adventure Time showrunner Adam Muto, we’re working on an exciting new feature film project. Moreover, two upcoming spin-offs for the franchise are underway: Adventure Time: Side Quests and Adventure Time: Heyo BMO. However, as of now, the release dates or windows for these animated projects have not been disclosed yet.
