On Nintendo’s Korean website, a promotional image for Donkey Kong Bananza appears to have accidentally given a sneak peek that character Pauline from Super Mario Odyssey will somehow be part of the game. The image seems to have been corrected afterwards, but it was first noticed by social media user Genki_JPN. Here’s a look at the image below.
Initially, when the content was released, the promotional artwork featured Pauline. However, upon publication, her presence in the image was eliminated. Notably, the art for the game hints at potential collaborations between Donkey Kong Bananza and Super Mario Odyssey, given that Pauline is a character from both games.
It’s important to mention that although Pauline was formally introduced and even appeared in a singing role in the New Donk City level of Super Mario Odyssey, she has been part of the game world for quite some time. In fact, Pauline is the character who was saved by Mario in the original 1981 Donkey Kong game.
In more recent times, the 2017 game, “Super Mario Odyssey”, showcased Pauline prominently in its advertising prior to launch. Interestingly, she is also the character who sings the game’s theme song, “Jump Up, Super Star!”, and this tune serves as a grand finale for the New Donk City stage, delivering a powerful conclusion.
In the worlds of Mario and Donkey Kong, there haven’t been many extensive narratives or shared lore. However, Pauline’s appearance in Donkey Kong Bananza introduces a more comedic angle that could potentially connect both games. Given that she was first kidnapped by Donkey Kong back in 1981, it’s plausible to imagine that they have since formed a friendship, leading up to the storyline of Donkey Kong Bananza.
During a recent Nintendo Direct focused on the Switch 2, the game titled “Donkey Kong: Three-Dimensional Adventure” was formally revealed. This is the first 3D platformer in the Donkey Kong series since the 1999 launch of “Donkey Kong 64” on the Nintendo 64 console.
In “Donkey Kong Bananza”, players assume the character of Donkey Kong, navigating through diverse stages by jumping on platforms and causing havoc. The game offers a fair amount of environmental interaction, enabling players to instigate quite a bit of mayhem across the game’s different levels.
Donkey Kong Bananza is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17th. Additional information about this game was shared during Nintendo’s Treehouse broadcasts. The new gameplay clips demonstrated the game’s exploration elements, such as environmental damage and platforming, among other features.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share some storage requirements for upcoming titles. When it drops, the new game I’ve been waiting for is estimated to take up around 10GB on my hard drive. Speaking of which, other games have also unveiled their file sizes. For instance, the anticipated Mario Kart World will gobble up a substantial 23.4 GB, while the enhanced Switch 2 version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set to consume a more manageable 5.7 GB.
