In today’s world, it’s not often that games developed by third parties stay exclusive for a prolonged period. This is because creating video games can be quite costly, and releasing them on multiple platforms can help cover these costs. It appears that one Nintendo Switch exclusive game, Disney Illusion Island, is set to expand its reach to the PlayStation 5. Sony enthusiasts won’t have to wait too much longer, as a recent leak from PS Deals (via Gematsu) suggests a May 30th release date for the system. The PS5 version will not only include the base game but also free updates and unannounced content as well.
In a twist of exciting news, Disney’s “Illusion Island” made its debut on Nintendo Switch in the year 2023. Over the past two years, the game has been graced with two free updates – “Mystery in Monoth” and “Keeper Up”. Recently, leaks from PS Deals hint at a third update titled “C.A.S.H.”, which is rumored to include Scrooge McDuck. Details about this update are still under wraps, leaving us guessing as to whether Scrooge will be playable or merely an NPC. With roots tracing back to the classic “DuckTales” on the original NES, Scrooge McDuck has a rich gaming history. His inclusion in “Disney Illusion Island’s” roster of playable characters would be fitting, but we’ll have to hold our breath for an official confirmation before we can confirm this exciting possibility.
In an interview with ComicBook in 2023, Dlala Studios, developers of Disney Illusion Island, mentioned that they mainly discuss the Nintendo Switch. This implies that a release on other platforms might not have been a priority at the time, but circumstances can change over two years. Now, after being exclusively available on the Nintendo platform for some time, it appears more players will soon get to experience the game’s offerings. However, it remains undecided whether we should also expect versions for Steam and Xbox in the future.
Titled “Disney Illusion Island,” this side-scrolling game showcases beloved Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. Unlike most platform games that incorporate combat, this one skips the fighting, challenging players to navigate their way skillfully through obstacles instead. Despite the familiar faces, the game isn’t easy; it offers a variety of challenging puzzles that will keep seasoned platform gamers entertained.
The difficulty level in “Disney Illusion Island” is adjustable based on the number of hearts a player starts with. More experienced players can opt for fewer hearts, while beginners or less skilled players can have more, or even make themselves invincible. This feature makes it an excellent choice for parents to play together with their kids. ComicBook gave the Nintendo Switch version of “Disney Illusion Island” a 4 out of 5 in its review.
Currently, Disney Illusion Island for PS5 has not been formally confirmed by PlayStation or Dlala Studios. But if the rumored launch date on May 30th is true, we might not need to wait much longer before receiving further information.
