The White Lotus season three left fans with plenty of questions.
The key point here: What led Lochlan Ratliff to neglect cleaning the blender before using it, resulting in his close call with a potentially lethal concoction made from poisonous seeds? Actor Sam Nivola sheds light on this life-threatening choice by his character and his explanation is quite straightforward.
Sam, 21 years old, clarified on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on April 7 that he believed Patrick Schwarzenegger had prepared a protein shake. He thought it was an additional boost of protein. So, he said to himself, “Why not? A bit more protein can’t do any harm.
Proving that Lochlan did think it through, he added, “I’m not that much of an idiot.”
In the final scene, Lochlan began his day by mixing a protein shake in the blender that Timothy (Jason Isaacs) had contaminated with toxic fruits from the “suicide tree” the previous night, during his failed attempt to kill most of his family, including wife Victoria (Parker Posey), Saxon, and daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook), due to his hidden legal issues.
Initially, Timothy was given a reprieve and allowed to live, but he carelessly left the blender full of the mixture behind. Later, Lochlan, who had mixed his morning protein drink, collapsed by the pool and appeared to have perished. However, he miraculously regained consciousness in the arms of his distraught father.
Meanwhile, spectators rejoiced as Lochlan survived to narrate his Thailand adventure, but it was Aimee Lou Wood’s character Chelsea, Walton Goggins’ character Rick, and Scott Glenn’s character Jim Hollinger who formed an unexpected alliance that led to their untimely end.
Among the Ratliff family, it’s Lochlan – their youngest member – who experienced an eventful season. His yearning for acceptance led him to a short-lived, incestuous incident with Saxon and a visit to a Buddhist retreat alongside Piper. In conclusion, Lochlan was seen casually standing, with his hands in his pockets and sunglasses on, as the family boarded their boat back to Thailand’s airport.
Regarding how he felt about the final episode, Sam mourned the conclusion of the series alongside his co-stars while they watched it together.
On the Tonight Show,” Sam expressed, “it was truly heartbreaking. We, the entire cast, were gathered, yet we found ourselves apart, confined to a different room.
Though audiences are aware of the ending of Lochlan’s tale, it’s important to note that Sam disclosed earlier he violated his Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to inform certain dear ones about it ahead of time.
In an interview with Variety, published on March 23rd, I, the eldest son of Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola, shared that I’ve confided in my parents, but not yet in my sister. She has a tendency to struggle with keeping things confidential.
Regarding his girlfriend Iris Apatow, he mentioned, “I shared this with my girlfriend since she was present during filming. That’s essentially all.

What do you think about that? The artist simply known as Lisa transitioned from being a global rockstar with K-pop group Blackpink, alongside bandmates Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé, to slipping into the White Lotus staff uniform for her first role as Mook.
It appears that Lucius Malfoy seems to have missed the Hogwarts train and ended up at The White Lotus resort instead. In this new role, the Harry Potter actor is reprising on-screen, this time portraying a different character – Timothy Ratliff. Described as a successful businessman, he’s spending his vacation with his wife and three kids. Although his appearance may have changed without his signature luscious blond hair, he still embodies an upper-class authority figure.
Additionally, Isaacs has recently been seen on television programs such as Robot Chicken, The Great, and Sex Education (sharing the screen with his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood.)
Instead of shouting when you spot it, remember that Posey, the actress portraying Timothy’s wife Victoria Ratliff, might seem familiar due to her roles in films like Superman Returns, Blade: Trinity, Scream 3, and Dazed and Confused. Additionally, she has made appearances on various television series such as Parks and Recreation, New Girl, Portlandia, and Search Party.
However, true romantic comedy enthusiasts would recognize her as Patricia Eden, Tom Hanks’ girlfriend in the 1998 beloved film “You’ve Got Mail,” where she starred as Joe Fox’s love interest.
Though you might recognize him primarily from family snapshots as the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, he has already established a reputation for himself through his roles in “Gen V”, “The Terminal List”, and “The Staircase”. Prior to portraying Saxon Ratliff in season three, this was already accomplished.
Before playing the role of Piper, Ratliffs’ daughter, Hook had already dipped her toes into the realms of horror and fantasy through her portrayals. She played Debbie Glatzel in “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” Juliette Fairmont in “First Kill,” and Elena Milak in “Monsterland.
Apart from recognizing her as Caroline Merteuil in the 2024 remake of “Cruel Intentions”, you might also remember her from Ryan Murphy’s cinematic universe, where she portrayed Catherine Allday Davis in “Impeachment: American Crime Story”. This series delves into the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandal.
Nivola, currently in a relationship with Iris Apatow, daughter of Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, joins the Ratliff family as the youthful Lochlan. Prior to setting foot in Thailand, however, he had been featured in another series revolving around a wealthy beach-going family: “The Perfect Couple”, where he portrayed Will Winbury, son of Greer and Tag Winbury, characters played by Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber respectively. Notably, he shared the screen with Meghann Fahy, who previously starred as Daphne Sullivan in season two of “White Lotus” on HBO, and later appeared as Merritt Monaco in “The Perfect Couple” on Netflix.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve had the privilege of sharing screen time with some truly exceptional talents. For instance, I acted alongside Adam Driver in “White Noise”, collaborated with Bradley Cooper in “Maestro”, and worked with Anne Hathaway in “With/In”.
Fans of “White Lotus” will surely remember Rothwell from the first season, where she portrayed spa guru Belinda in Maui. Not only is she returning for season three, but this versatile actress has also made appearances on shows like “Insecure”, “Wonka”, “A Year and Change”, and “Love, Simon”. To add to her resume, she showcased her comedic talent as a writer on “Saturday Night Live” from 2014 to 2015.
The actress who played Iron Man’s character is now joining the cast of ‘The White Lotus’, having previously portrayed Christine Everhart in the Marvel series. Most recently, she appeared as Dinah Donahue in ‘Palm Royale’ and as Grace Kennedy-Sampson in ‘Jupiter’s Legacy’.
The actress who shone during the Gilded Age era, and might also seem familiar from shows like The Sinner, Fargo, and The Leftovers, takes on the character of Laurie this season. She joins friends Kate and Jaclyn for a women’s vacation in Thailand.
In her role as Jaclyn on “The White Lotus,” Monaghan is indeed a TV personality, but she’s also a real-life television star with roles in shows like “True Detective,” “Bad Monkey,” “Messiah,” and “The Path.” On the silver screen, she has played Julia in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” and Angie Genaro in “Gone Baby Gone.
You’ll have a sense of validity, knowing that it isn’t just your imagination—Goggins does seem familiar. Apart from appearing in two films directed by Quentin Tarantino (as Billy Crash in “Django Unchained” and Sheriff Chris Mannix in “The Hateful Eight”), he is also well-recognized for portraying Boyd Crowder on the television series “Justified” from 2010 to 2015.
In the third season, a free-spirited character named Chelsea, portrayed by an English actress, enters the cast. She shares an age-gap relationship with Rick Hatchett, played by Goggins. However, she is famously recognized for her role as Aimee Gibbs on Netflix’s “Sex Education,” and has also made appearances in “Seize Them!” and “Daddy Issues.
For over five decades, her acting career has spanned back to the role of Grounded God in 1975; however, her latest performance was as Prani Chiraanan in the series In Family We Trust, which aired in 2018.
