Broderick Kids Disagree on Acting Careers

Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker’s kids may take the day off from acting.

As a die-hard admirer, I must confess that the double Tony Award winner and the radiant star of “Sex and the City” have truly etched their names in the annals of Hollywood. However, it’s not the case that their 15-year-old twins, Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell, are blindly following in their footsteps, eager to dive into the family business.

In my expert opinion, I can confidently say that one particular choice is not the right fit for me at this moment. I shared this insight during a recent conversation with TopMob News at A Night of SeriousFun, an extraordinary event organized by the SeriousFun Children’s Network, which was hosted in New York City on April 7th. However, I am not entirely convinced that it will never be the right choice for me.

Yet, it appears that the love for action passed from Matthew and Sarah Jessica to their son James Wilkie, aged 22. In a February episode of CBS’ Elsbeth, he had the opportunity to act alongside the star of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Notably, at 63 years old, the actor couldn’t help but express his delight about their time filming together.

Reflecting on our time spent together, I must say it was an absolute delight for the past two days. Sharing moments around the craft service table, indulging in delicious treats, truly made for a memorable experience. Initially, there were some nerves, but as the hours passed, they seemed to dissipate. All in all, we had a fantastic couple of days together. I can’t help but express how wonderful it was. In a conversation with People magazine in January, the 22-year-old expressed his agreement with his father. He said, “It was an absolute blast collaborating with my dad, who is not only my coworker but also my favorite actor!” James continued, “Being part of the production for Elsbeth was more than thrilling, and I am deeply appreciative to the producers for offering me this exceptional opportunity.

Additionally, James embarks on his acting path, Matthew and Sarah Jessica are always there to provide whatever assistance he requires along the way.

Matthew shared that he would offer advice if asked during an interview published on April 8th with People. His wife accompanies him during auditions, and they both provide feedback when it’s needed. In today’s world, self-tapes are common, and she helps him by reading along with him, often saying “It’s not good.” And so do I.

He added, “We definitely [support him] but only if he wants to.”

If acting doesn’t pan out for Matthew, he’s optimistic about James’ prospects. “He’s well-educated, which opens up many opportunities for him,” he stated, “and I believe he currently enjoys acting.

At the yearly event, known as the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party, which was jointly organized by L’Wren Scott, they both went to The Serpentine Gallery in London.

At the New York City debut of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1”, the family, which includes their child named James Wilkie Broderick, were present.
