Is Dune: Awakening on Xbox Game Pass?

As of now, it hasn’t been explicitly stated that Dune: Awakening is included in Xbox Game Pass. However, there’s no clear evidence suggesting it will be either. If it doesn’t debut on the service at launch, there’s a possibility it might join later on.

Dune: Awakening (probably) isn’t coming to Game Pass

Games with an open-world survival theme such as Valheim, Enshrouded, ARK: Survival Evolved, and others have gained significant popularity in recent years, particularly on personal computers. Funcom, the developer and publisher responsible for the well-loved 2018 game Conan Exiles, is set to launch a new title that may very well be one of the top PC games in 2025: Dune: Awakening.

The upcoming PC launch of Dune: Awakening on May 20th (via Steam) has generated excitement, especially since it follows closely after the highly anticipated Dune: Part Two movie in 2024 and offers a massive multiplayer experience set in the famous desert world of Arrakis. Although specific release dates for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions have not been announced, there’s already significant interest in the game, leading many to ponder if they can join the action through Microsoft’s all-you-can-play subscription service, Xbox Game Pass.

While it would undoubtedly bring joy to many fans if Dune: Awakening were available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, t Awakening won’t be on Game Pass; it’s just not looking likely at this stage.

If you don’t have Game Pass access, you’ll have to purchase a permanent version of Dune: Awakening to play it. At this moment, pre-orders for the Steam version are open; the Standard Edition is priced at $49.99, the Deluxe Edition is $69.99, and the Ultimate Edition is $89.99. The Deluxe Edition offers early access starting May 15, the Dune: Awakening Season Pass, and the Sardaukar Bator Armor. The Ultimate Edition includes these perks plus some additional extras.

Could Dune: Awakening get a Game Pass release?

The announcement that Dune: Awakening (likely) won’t be available on Xbox Game Pass initially may dishearten many. Yet, there’s nothing suggesting it won’t arrive on the service at a later date. In fact, it could potentially debut on Game Pass once it eventually launches on Xbox Series X|S systems.

Noteworthy is the fact that Conan Exiles by Funcom was accessible on Game Pass for a while, but it was removed from the service in November last year. Following its removal, however, Funcom offered significant discounts on Xbox and Windows platforms for a limited period; a similar scenario might occur here, with Dune: Awakening potentially being added to Game Pass temporarily before undergoing a substantial price reduction, enabling Game Pass members to purchase a permanent copy at a reduced cost.
