Yearly, Microsoft organizes a substantial event to unveil their planned Xbox game schedule, frequently accompanied by other exciting revelations.

According to what’s shared on Xbox Wire, Microsoft is gearing up to offer a peek into the upcoming era of Xbox, encompassing Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and more expansive horizons.

Save some room in your schedule for next year’s Xbox Games Showcase, streaming live on Sunday, June 8th. The event will kick off at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time, continuing the tradition set by the 2023 Starfield Direct and the 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct. In 2025, we’ll have a two-part program, with the Xbox Games Showcase followed directly by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.

After the demise of E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), Microsoft has been coordinating its summer gaming events more closely with Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles. This year, the Xbox Games Showcase is happening at a time that’s closer to Geoff Keighley’s event, making it simpler for press and content creators to arrange their meetings and previews.

Regrettably, it appears that this year’s event will be held digitally only, which means there won’t be a live LA Xbox FanFest viewing event as in the past. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Microsoft may have other live events lined up for fans down the line.

During Xbox’s June Showcase, there will be an in-depth presentation, similar to a “Direct” style, focusing on The Outer Worlds 2. This highly anticipated science fiction role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment is frequently likened to Fallout and its peers.

As a researcher exploring the fringes of a star system dominated by corporations, I find myself in colonies barely clinging to existence, leveraging sophisticated technology just to stay afloat amidst terrifying alien lifeforms and a diverse array of malicious factions. In this game, The Direct promises to delve deeper into the narrative, following suit with the immersive backstory unveiled in past titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops and Starfield.

At the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, attendees can expect content in more than 40 different languages, along with both American and British Sign Language, all accompanied by English audio descriptions.

However, some Xbox fans have expressed a sense of disappointment due to the perceived lack of exclusive games, which seems to have diminished the brand’s appeal. In casual conversations, it’s not common to hear positive sentiments about Xbox these days.

Despite possible increases in game prices due to international tariffs and trade wars, Xbox’s cost-effective offerings such as Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Series S could gain popularity in the short run. This period seems confusing and unpredictable indeed.
