Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to roll out an upgrade for PlayStation Portal‘s system software, bringing enhancements to the already-in-testing cloud streaming service. The company made this announcement.
Get the details below.
Sort
On the Cloud Streaming (Beta) homepage, you’ll notice a new icon in the upper-left corner that allows you to organize the games. You can now arrange them according to their addition to PS Plus (the default option), Alphabetically by name, or by their Release date.
Capture Gameplay
During a Cloud Streaming (Beta), you can now activate the “Create” button in your PS Portal. Here’s what you can accomplish with it:
*Note: The phrasing has been made more conversational and user-friendly.*
- Press once: Display the create menu
- Press and hold: Take a screenshot
- Press twice: Start/finish recording a video clip
During a live streaming session, images and videos are instantly saved to the cloud server. You can access these saved content via the PlayStation App by navigating to [Library] > [Captures]. These captures will remain available for 14 days following their creation.
Queue
Currently, you’ll need to hold off playing until our streaming server isn’t at capacity. The approximate waiting period will be shown on-screen, and once it’s your chance, the game session will kick off automatically.
Pause
During a Cloud Streaming (Beta) game session, gameplay will now pause in the following situations:
- Gameplay will pause when you open the PS Portal quick menu. You can open the quick menu by pressing the PS button, swiping left from the top right corner of your screen, or tapping the quick menu icon from the status bar.
- When you press the power button once, PS Portal will be put into rest mode and the game will be paused. You can un-pause and get back to your game play by pressing the power button again. If PS Portal remains in rest mode for more than 15 seconds, the cloud streaming session will be disconnected.
- Gameplay will also pause when a system error message is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Note that the pause feature will not be supported in some cases, such as during an online multiplay session.
Notification of Inactivity
From now on, you’ll get a system alert when your streaming session is nearly ending because of inactivity lasting more than 10 minutes.
User Feedback Screen
At the conclusion of each live stream, we’ve incorporated a feedback form for users to assess their streaming experience quality. This valuable input allows us to pinpoint what aspects are working effectively and where improvements can be made, as part of our ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional service.
