The popular series “Race Across the World” is set to return to your television screens on BBC One, marking its fifth season. Surprise, it’s happening sooner than anticipated!
According to the BBC, the adventure series is set to come back on Wednesday, the 23rd of April, airing at 9 pm on both BBC One and iPlayer.
Again, they will accompany pairs on their journey through an unprecedented competition, spanning vast distances across different parts of the globe.
Although specifics about the journey’s path and performers involved haven’t been revealed yet, the BBC has shared a brief video to create excitement for what lies ahead.
In the trailer, a voice is heard stating, “We’ve definitely taken a wrong turn,” yet it skillfully withholds details on the upcoming season’s developments.

Just like usual, pairs will leave behind contemporary gadgets and comforts as they journey across vast distances towards each marker, aiming to be the ones who ultimately cross the finishing line first.
Previously, Alfie and his best friend Owen emerged victorious in a race, outpacing Eugenie and her daughter Isabel by a mere eight minutes, with the latter team finishing close behind.
I was thrilled to share in the excitement as Alfie and Owen pocketed an impressive £20,000 from this year’s competition. With such a substantial prize at stake, it’s no wonder everyone participating is eagerly hoping for their chance to win!
Tim Harcourt, in his role as Creative Director at Studio Lambert, expressed satisfaction over season 5 by saying: “It appears that viewers appreciate that we didn’t simplify the challenging and complex nature of The Race for popular figures and their family members. We are excited to produce another series for BBC.
In the meantime, Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning for Factual Entertainment and Events at the BBC, expressed her gratitude: “Our cast has poured their heart and soul into it, and we’re thrilled with the response, especially from younger viewers on iPlayer. We can’t wait to collaborate with Studio Lambert again for the next series.
