For Windows Insiders, this week marks the opportunity to trial two eagerly awaited enhancements within the Copilot application. Microsoft has initiated the distribution of an update that introduces functionality for advanced document searches and Copilot Vision.
During Microsoft’s 50th anniversary celebration, known as the Copilot event, they introduced several new features, including enhanced vision capabilities in Copilot and improved search options.
After the update is applied to your computer, you’ll have the ability to query Copilot about files on your system. This search function works with various file types and can read documents in formats like .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .txt, .pdf, and .json, as confirmed by Microsoft.
Enhanced file searching via Copilot enables you to hunt for files using conversational language, such as asking, “Can you open the document I worked on last week regarding trip planning?
You can adjust which files Copilot can access to ensure privacy.
Using Copilot Vision, it’s possible for you to easily show any open browser or application window to your AI assistant. Once the window is shared, the AI will examine and comprehend the content displayed within it.
For instance, the Copilot Vision tool can assist you while playing Minecraft by providing navigation tips. Additionally, it offers suggestions on utilizing various apps to effectively complete specific tasks.
Initially, Copilot Vision was limited to Microsoft Edge, but it now supports other apps.
To use the feature, click on the glasses icon located within Copilot. Then, choose the window you want Copilot Vision to scrutinize. When you’re done, simply click ‘Stop’ or ‘X’ to deactivate Copilot Vision.
In order to access enhanced search or Copilot Vision, ensure your Copilot software is updated to version 1.25034.133.0 or a later release. Initially, residents of the United States who are part of the Windows Insider program will be able to enjoy Copilot Vision first.
You don’t necessarily require a Copilot+ computer setup to utilize Copilot on Windows systems, or to enjoy the latest updates being rolled out for Windows Insiders.
