Mariska Hargitay Reveals Heartfelt Stories of Mom Jayne Mansfield in New HBO Doc!

These are Jayne Mansfield’s stories.

6 decades have passed since the premature demise of the 1950s Hollywood star. Now, her daughter, Mariska Hargitay, has announced a new HBO documentary titled “My Mom Jayne”, which she herself directed and produced, is set for release in June.

On Instagram, April 8, the star of Law & Order: SVU, who was the son of actor and bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay, expressed deep gratitude, satisfaction, and immense pride in sharing this film. He lamented that he never had a chance to make a movie with his mom, and she never got to create the films she aspired to. The movie, #MyMomJayne, serves as a reunion for us, and words fall short in expressing how significant it is to narrate her story, my own, and ours jointly.

During the 50s and 60s, Jayne, recognized for her iconic blonde hair and pink style, ascended to become one of Hollywood’s most prominent figures. Apart from her time as a Playboy model, she also appeared in “Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?” and “The Girl Can’t Help It.” However, in 1967, the Golden Globe winner suffered a tragic death in a car accident at the age of 34, leaving Mariska, who was only 3 years old at the time, with a longing to learn more about her mother.

In a press release on April 8th, Mariska expressed that this movie is a deeply personal project. She described it as a quest to discover the mother she never knew, a process of embracing a missing piece of herself, and a means to reclaim both her mother’s story and her own identity.

She went on to say, “Over the course of creating this movie, my conviction that power resides in being open and vulnerable has been reinforced more deeply than ever.

In the film, the character who won an Emmy sets out on a unique adventure to truly comprehend, connect with, and accept her mother for the initial time.

The announcement further detailed that the documentary includes in-depth personal interviews and unique, previously unseen photographs and videos. It explores the complex duality of Jayne’s public image and private life, revealing the multidimensional person behind the star for both her fans and those who knew her intimately.
