Ed Sheeran Drops Bombshell on Super Bowl Halftime Show Future

Ed Sheeran expresses his views about performing at the Super Bowl Half-time Show, as he gears up for the launch of his upcoming album.

34-year-old British actor prepares for the launch of his eighth significant work titled “Play,” set to be released on May 7th. Prior to this, he had a chat with Alex Cooper on her Call Her Daddy podcast.

In our conversation, we discussed the possibility of him taking the stage during the Super Bowl, filling the prestigious Halftime Show position that artists like Beyoncé, Prince, Rihanna, and Michael Jackson have graced before.

In the previous year, Kendrick Lamar grabbed the headlining spot, making his Super Bowl Halftime Show the most-watched ever, as approximately 133.5 million viewers tuned in to catch his performance and observe him delivering subtle criticisms aimed at fellow rap artist Drake.

However, despite being a globally successful multi-platinum artist with an extensive repertoire, Sheeran admitted that he lacked the charisma or flair (“the pizazz”) necessary to execute it.

10 years ago, there was talk about engaging with someone, and I believe that’s the only viable option for me right now, as far as I’m concerned, Cooper.

English artists, while they certainly possess talent, often don’t have the same grand spectacle as a Super Bowl halftime show with fireworks, dancers, and so on. Personally, I don’t envision myself standing up there and presenting ‘The A Team’ or ‘Perfect,’ which might not be what audiences are looking for.

Yet, he indicated his readiness to attend, stating: “Should there be an event bursting with excitement, like perhaps a performance by Beyoncé who has all the flair, and at one point we duet ‘Perfect’, that resonates with me.

He wasn’t sure about it, as he couldn’t envision himself performing that way. Furthermore, he mentioned that the nature of his performances, which usually involve setting up a loop pedal between songs, doesn’t fit with his usual style.

Currently, Sheeran is engaged in promoting his album Plus, and he’s set to perform at the Coachella music festival over the coming weekend.

The first single off Azizam’s album, titled “My Beloved,” was launched a week ago, and it is inspired by the Swedish-Iranian music producer, Ilya Salmanzadeh.
