Is Annika Season 3 Coming? Here’s What We Know So Far!

In a natural and easy-to-understand manner: The second season of the crime drama “Annika,” starring Nicola Walker, is now available on U&Drama. This series first aired on Alibi back in 2023.

Drawing inspiration from BBC Radio 4’s audio drama “Annika Stranded,” the show introduces Walker as Detective Inspector Annika Stranded, who leads the fictitious Glasgow-based Marine Homicide Unit in resolving a series of grisly crimes.

Additionally in season 2, we see the return of Katie Leung portraying DC Blair Ferguson and Jamie Sives as DS Michael McAndrews. Moreover, some fresh faces join the cast as well.

Those who have seen the second season may be curious if any more episodes or seasons will be produced in the future.

Read on for everything you need to know about Annika season 3.

Will there be an Annika season 3?

As of now, it remains uncertain if Annika will appear in a third season. Neither the cast nor the team involved have discussed any plans for the series to continue.

It appears undeniable that the creative team behind the show plans to continue the storyline – after all, they wouldn’t leave such a massive plot twist hanging, with Annika’s father becoming the main suspect in a murder case.

Looking forward to diving deeper into the Glasgow Marine Homicide Unit’s cases, revisiting Annika and Jake’s storyline, and discovering numerous reasons to look forward to more of Annika, is there a possibility that more episodes might be planned?

We’ll make sure to provide any new details about Annika’s future as soon as they become available.

When could a potential Annika season 3 be released?

As a dedicated fan, I can’t confidently predict when Annika season 3 will air. While the second season graced our screens on Alibi two years after the first, the current lack of updates about the show’s continuation makes a 2025 debut seem rather improbable.

The earliest we could expect to see a potential Annika season 3 would likely be in 2026.

We’ll keep this page updated once we know any more about the release date for Annika season 3.

Annika cast – who would be back for season 3?

Should Annika come back for another round, it’s likely that most key characters from season 2 would reappear – with Nicola Walker playing Annika, Jamie Sives taking on the role of Michael, Katie Leung as Blair, and Varada Sethu portraying Harper.

It is probable that Katie Dickie, Silvie Furneaux, and Paul McGann will reappear in future episodes. Additionally, we anticipate Sven Henriksen returning as Magnus to handle the aftermath of the recent cliffhanger.

It’s unlikely that we’ll see Ukweli Roach reappear as Detective Sergeant Tyrone Clarke again. Tyrone parted ways with the Glasgow team during season 2, and if there are no unexpected twists, it appears that his character may not return.

Here’s a full list of the Annika cast we’d expect to return for season 3:

  • Nicola Walker as DI Annika Strandhed
  • Jamie Sives as DS Michael McAndrews
  • Katie Leung as DC Blair Ferguson
  • Varada Sethu as DC Harper Weston
  • Kate Dickie as DCI Diane Oban
  • Silvie Furneaux as Morgan Strandhed
  • Paul McGann as Jake Strathearn
  • Sven Henriksen as Magnus Strandhed
