For several weeks now, I’ve been putting this mouse through its paces, and I can wholeheartedly say that it holds its own against its budget-friendly counterpart in terms of overall gaming excellence. However, what sets it apart is its enhanced performance – truly a step up from its predecessor!
In simpler terms, while I find it hard to fault this mouse’s design as it follows traditional methods, it doesn’t particularly excite me. However, when considering value for money, the standard Pulsefire Haste 2 becomes more appealing due to its lower price tag, offering almost the same quality.

Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro review: What I like
The updated HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro shares a similar structure with its predecessor, except for a fresh color scheme. It’s designed to be used by right-handers and features a symmetrical layout made entirely out of matte plastic.
The body has a sturdy construction, offering a solid yet comfortable feel that resists picking up fingerprint oils or smudges easily. Weighing 61 grams, it’s relatively lightweight, although it falls slightly short of the coveted sub-60g weight often touted as the perfect balance by many manufacturers.
Regardless of your preferred grip style or hand size, the Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro’s ergonomics are designed to cater to you. It features an intuitive design with thoughtfully positioned buttons, a scroll wheel covered in soft texture, and a shape that should suit many users comfortably.
As an analyst, I’m sharing some details about the mouse design. The optical sensor is strategically placed at the heart of the device, ensuring comfortable and precise usage. Beneath it, there’s a thoughtfully designed compartment for your wireless dongle, providing convenience during setup and storage. Additionally, the charging port is intelligently positioned at the front, making it easily accessible whenever you need to recharge the mouse.
In a group, this mouse might seem indistinguishable from many others, but upon closer inspection, it reveals its superior quality, crafted meticulously over countless hours of research and development. It’s designed to provide comfort even during extended usage.
Inside the package, you’ll find an optional adhesive grip material for added texture should you desire it. It’s an excellent bonus feature.
Beneath its exterior, this device features HyperX’s 26,000 dots-per-inch (DPI) optical sensor. This sensor supports speeds up to 650 inches-per-second and boasts an acceleration of 50 G. While it may not be the most sophisticated sensor in a gaming mouse, it is dependable, accurate, and highly responsive.
For my use, the Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro’s tracking felt incredibly smooth and precise. It offers a high polling rate of up to 4,000Hz, which, coupled with NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency Validation, guarantees swift responses for lightning-fast gaming experiences.
This optical mouse features tactile, responsive switches on its main buttons, making it an outstanding choice for gaming as well as everyday tasks. Its wireless functionality consistently performs well, without lagging or delaying during use and quickly reconnecting from standby mode.
By setting up the HyperX NGENUITY software, you’ll unlock a variety of customization features, but don’t expect anything extraordinary. You can set up to five DPI profiles on your mouse, modify the color of the limited RGB lighting in the scroll wheel, reprogram any of its six buttons, adjust the polling rate, and alter the lift-off distance between 1-2mm. That’s essentially it.
The battery performance might not be as strong compared to the regular Pulsefire Haste 2 mouse, but you can still enjoy up to 90 hours of operation when using the 1000Hz polling rate that most users are likely to prefer.
In my opinion, the estimated performance of the Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro seemed reliable because it didn’t unexpectedly run out on me throughout its use. I only needed to recharge it once over the entire period I owned it, and I didn’t bother turning it off at night either.
HyperX Glass Skates
The HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro comes with standard plastic glides out of the box, which are typical and offer an average experience for a top-tier gaming mouse. However, you can easily swap these glides if desired.
HyperX provides optional skate upgrades made of glass as an additional feature, and I received this upgrade along with the Haste 2 Pro for a personal test. The installation process was somewhat disorganized, involving removing the original ones that were glued on and then attaching the new glass ones. However, after being put in place, they held firmly.
Indeed, does the use of HyperX Glass Skates over the standard ones bring about any change? Without a doubt! The HyperX Glass Skates offer a significantly smoother experience compared to the default feet, enabling the Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro to effortlessly glide across various surfaces.
The reduction in friction, particularly on my hard mouse pad, is quite apparent with the Haste 2 Pro. However, it does not transform into an overly slick surface that feels unmanageable or difficult to control.

Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro review: What I don’t like
I can confidently assert that the HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro wireless gaming mouse is exceptional in virtually all aspects. It’s a reliable and high-quality item you can count on.
If there’s any fault with this mouse, it’s its tendency towards safety and lack of excitement. It performs well in all aspects, but it doesn’t venture into new territories, strive for innovation, or offer unique features that distinguish it from other exceptional mice within the same category.
The neutral, monotonous hue of the Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro doesn’t offer a significant break from the traditional Haste 2 model. To put it simply, the improvements can be broken down as follows:
1. A wireless polling rate of 4,000Hz
2. Optical mouse switches
3. A decrease in battery life by 10%
4. An increase in price by approximately 33%
Instead of splurging on the additional, optional glass skates for the HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2, which adds $30 to its cost, it might be more practical to simply go for the regular version and save yourself some money.
Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro review: My final thoughts

- You just want one of the best gaming mice without worrying about details.
- You want a light, symmetrical, 4,000Hz wireless mouse for less than $150.
- You already have other HyperX products and want to keep things simple.
❌You should not buy this if …
- You don’t need 4,000Hz polling (just get the Haste 2).
- You value features like infinite scrolling, wireless charging, or anything else.
Is it accurate to say that the HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro is currently among the top-tier wireless gaming mice available on the market? Indeed, it is.
If high polling rate of 4000Hz isn’t a priority for you, it might be wiser to skip the HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Pro. The regular version, priced $30 lower, is often considered the more attractive option due to its similar qualities.
This mouse seems rather unusual in its positioning. It’s truly impressive, and the only reason I wouldn’t recommend purchasing it is if you believe that a less expensive alternative might suit your needs equally well.
If HyperX had included their high-quality glass skates as a standard feature instead of charging an extra $20 for them, it might have helped the Haste 2 Pro stand out distinctly from its smaller counterpart, but they opted not to.
