Meet Lexi Jones: David Bowie’s Daughter Carving Her Own Path in Music!

David Bowie‘s daughter isn’t feeling under pressure when it comes to her own musical career.

Alexandra “Lexi” Zahra Jones, the daughter shared by the late rocker with his wife Iman, unveiled her debut album titled Xandri, on April 2. Prior to sharing her music globally through this 12-song collection, she paid touching tributes to her father David Robert Jones (also known as Bowie), who passed away in 2016 following a cancer battle at the age of 69.

On the 14th of March, Lexi uploaded an old family photograph onto her Instagram, with a snapshot of her father carrying her, accompanied by her rendition of his 1971 popular song “Life on Mars?” This version is not included in her latest album. She simply labeled the post as “Papa.

Beyond her musical prowess, Lexi, David Bowie and Iman’s daughter, has additionally displayed her artistic abilities in the visual realm. On social media, she’s shared various artworks. According to The Independent, she even designed the cover artwork for her album, a unique piece depicting a head with two faces separating from each other.

Apart from following a career as a performer like her parents, Bowie and Iman’s daughter also excels in the visual arts – she was responsible for designing the artwork on her own album covers, notably one depicting a head divided into two faces that seem to separate.

For a single day, Lexi showcased Xandri, a piece she both penned and produced, across various social media platforms. However, for several months prior, she had been intermittently posting glimpses of her music. On Instagram, March 14, she uploaded a rendition of David Bowie’s “Life on Mars?” from 1971 along with an old photo featuring herself and her father as a tribute.

While Lexi’s cover is not featured on her album, her cover touched many fans’ hearts.

As Alexandria “Lexi” Zahra Jones, the daughter of the late rock icon David Robert Jones, also known as Bowie, I proudly unveiled my debut album, titled Xandri, on April 2nd. In the lead-up to this global music introduction through a 12-track album, I couldn’t help but express heartfelt tributes to my father who left us after his courageous battle against cancer in 2016 at the age of 69.

14th March saw Lexi posting an old family photo on Instagram, where she’s being carried by her dad, accompanied by her rendition of his 1971 hit “Life on Mars?”. The heartfelt caption read simply, “Dad”.

During the following weeks, Lexi continued to reveal more aspects of her childhood by uploading videos. In these videos, she can be seen hugging a pet dog within a fence and enjoying herself in the snow. Interestingly, the video featuring the snow is synchronized with her album track titled “Through All the Time.

Beyond her gift in music, just like her father, Lexi is an accomplished painter as well. Throughout the years, she’s shared her artistic creations, which include pieces reminiscent of her childhood and inspired by Bowie and Iman, on various social media platforms.

Duncan Jones, son of the late David Bowie, aged 53, whose mother Angie Bowie was a former wife to the Grammy-winning musician, has established himself as a director, directing films like “Moon” and “Warcraft”. On the other hand, Lexi has largely avoided the limelight, concentrating on her painting and music in recent times.

In a 2018 interview with Porter magazine, Iman clarified that she was labeled as overprotective. However, she responded by saying, “Everything can be postponed; it won’t disappear. Cherish your private life now, for it won’t remain so for long. Embrace this privacy while you still can.

At that point, the supermodel (who had been married to Bowie for 23 years before his passing) clarified that she understood the attention toward the then-18-year-old was primarily due to her family connections.

Many agencies and designers reached out to express interest in having her model for them, saying something like, ‘If she wishes, we’d be thrilled.’ However, Iman responded that she wouldn’t. This was because they wanted her to model due to the fact that she is David Bowie’s daughter.

Instead, she strived to instill a sense of everyday familiarity into her daughter’s life, which was equally true for her and Bowie as well.

Instead, she desired her daughter to experience a familiar rhythm in her existence, which was true for both her and Bowie as well.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar last January, Iman expressed that the ordinary beauty of their life was what made it exceptional. They shared that they could reside in New York, fetch their child from school, and stroll around everywhere. Essentially, she wished they had been able to enjoy more years together.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar last January, Iman expressed that what made their life beautiful was its simplicity and ordinary nature. They could reside in New York, fetch their child from school, and explore the city on foot. It’s just like saying, “We had a wonderfully normal life here, and that’s what made it so special.” Regrettably, they wished for more years together.

The legendary rock star passed away after an 18 month battle with cancer at the age of 69.

David Robert Jones, later known as David Bowie, hailed from England and made his grand entrance into the world on January 8, 1947. At just fifteen years old, he founded his first band following his knack for mastering the unusual instrument, a plastic saxophone.

Following an unsuccessful music career in the early 60’s using his real name, he decided to change his stage name to David Bowie in the mid-60’s, taking inspiration from the famous 19th-century American pioneer, Jim Bowie.

1969 found me, an ardent music enthusiast, on the brink of a life-altering moment. Five days prior to the historic Apollo 11 launch, the maestro himself, David Bowie, ignited my world with the release of “Space Oddity.” It was as if a rocket fueled by pure genius had blasted off, catapulting both him and me into stardom.

In the 1970s, David Bowie introduced his flamboyant Ziggy Stardust stage performance, characterized by striking outfits and bold red hair. This act and Bowie himself soon gained immense popularity in the United Kingdom.

Despite being widely popular in Europe, it wasn’t until 1975 that David Bowie managed to make a significant impact on the American music scene with his hit song “Fame.

In 1984, Bowie teamed up with Tina Turner and Iggy Pop on the dance-oriented album “Tonight”. This collaboration brought him his first Grammy in 1985, which was awarded for Best Short Form Music Video, a category he won for his famous top ten hit “Blue Jean”.

Among his most striking movie performances is where he embodied the seductive and enigmatic character of Jareth the Goblin King, in the beloved cult film “Labyrinth,” which was released in 1986.

In the early ’90s, David Bowie ignited both the music and modeling industries by entering into a relationship with supermodel Iman. Later in 1992, they got married, marking Bowie’s second wedding.

Iman and David not only remained a long-standing couple in Hollywood, but they seamlessly blended work and play through their captivating photo sessions.

In my perspective, I, a devoted admirer, had the privilege of witnessing David Bowie’s electrifying performances that kept audiences ecstatic even during his golden years, all the way into his 50s. Here, you see him captivating the crowd at MTV’s Rock and Comedy Concert in 2002.

2006 saw David Bowie receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, during which he declared his intention to take a one-year break from creating music.

In the realm of fashion, Iman and David were consistently looked upon as setting the standard for stylish couples gracing the red carpet. Back in 2007, they made a striking appearance at the Met Gala, both donning identical suits.

Days before his death and on his 69th birthday, Bowie released his 25th studio album, Blackstar.
