Indeed, both Emma Corrin and Olivia Colman are set to take on the roles of Elizabeth Bennet and Mrs. Bennet, respectively, in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice”. The role of Mr. Darcy opposite Corrin will be played by none other than Jack Lowden, who is best known for his work in “Slow Horses”.
29-year-old Corrin expressed excitement when speaking to Netflix, stating, “Playing Elizabeth Bennet represents an extraordinary chance. To breathe life into such an iconic character, while working alongside Olivia and Jack, using Dolly’s outstanding scripts, feels like the highest privilege imaginable. I can hardly wait for a new audience to rediscover this story and fall in love with it once more.
A six-part television series inspired by Jane Austen’s 1813 novel is soon to be helmed by director Eros Lyn, who was previously associated with “Heartstopper.” The script for this adaptation will be penned by acclaimed British author Dolly Alderton.
Every few years, there comes a time when a select group of individuals are given the opportunity to re-tell this enchanting tale, as stated by the author of ‘Everything I Know About Love’, who is 36. I feel incredibly fortunate to be among those privileged few.
She went on to say, “Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ serves as the foundation for romantic comedies; it has been a pleasure to revisit its pages and uncover both familiar and innovative approaches to breathe new life into this cherished novel. This book is a delight to adapt, offering an abundance of drama, depth, humor, and charm.
The timeless tale of Jane Austen has often been depicted on screen, and one such rendition dates back to 1995. This adaptation was a British television series titled by the same name, spanning over six episodes and featuring Colin Firth in the role of Mr. Darcy.
In the year that followed, Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen assumed the renowned leading parts in the 2005 cinema rendition of the classic novel – set to return to theaters for its 20th anniversary celebration. At that moment, the freshly titled Mr. Darcy wasn’t entirely certain if he was ready for the challenge.
The Succession alum shared on CBS Mornings last July that there were instances where I had fun, but I wished I could have savored the moments more. In hindsight, I wish I hadn’t been so anxious about it all.
“I just felt a bit miscast. I’m not dishy enough,” he noted, adding, “but it worked out.”
These days, Macfadyen concedes, being called Mr. Darcy is undoubtedly one of the most complimentary things that occurs for him.

Beyond the 2024 series, the book has been adapted before, first into a 1980 miniseries, as well as a stage musical, board game, and video games.
Since its premiere in 2019, “The Morning Show” has continued to dominate the streaming landscape, largely due to exceptional acting from its leading stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Billy Crudup. This gripping series stars Andrew Scott as Tom Ripley, a cunning con artist residing in 1960s New York. He is recruited by a prominent shipping tycoon to coax his son, Dickie (Johnny Flynn), away from his lavish European adventures and back to the United States. The film garnered a nomination for Outstanding Television Movie at the 2024 Emmys.
In the second installment of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series, titled “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” which is set to air in 2024, the narrative unfolds around renowned writer Truman Capote (played by Tom Hollander). This story revolves around how Capote damaged his relationships with a circle of New York City socialites, affectionately referred to as “The Swans.” This deterioration was primarily due to Capote’s portrayal of these individuals in thinly disguised form within a 1975 Esquire article. The source material for this FX production is Laurence Leamer’s 2021 book, “Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era.” This season boasts an impressive cast that includes stars like Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Calista Flockhart, Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, and the late Treat Williams. This captivating tale follows Hawkins Fuller, brilliantly portrayed by Matt Bomer, and Timothy Laughlin, brought to life by Jonathan Bailey, as they journey through a tumultuous relationship that unfolds across decades, from the 1950s to the 1980s.
Their compelling performances have not gone unnoticed, earning them well-deserved Emmy acting nominations for their roles in the Showtime miniseries. This drama brimming with grand battles and tragic love stories is inspired by the widely acclaimed book series penned by George R.R Martin. Over the span of eight seasons, this HBO production bagged 58 Emmy Awards, making it the most award-winning drama ever produced. Despite ongoing debates about the controversial ending, which veered away from Martin’s plans to conclude with a unique finale, the show will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most revered productions in television history.
HBO’s television adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s popular book attracted top-tier actors for small-screen roles, with Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, and Laura Dern inhabiting the coveted positions as five women embroiled in a murder investigation. As gripping as its source material, the first season garnered eight Primetime Emmy Awards and even managed to persuade Meryl Streep to join for a significant role in the subsequent season. Remarkably, Moriarty contributed to the second season’s development, despite no remaining material to draw from. Although not quite as universally admired, season two still secured nominations for Meryl Streep and Laura Dern in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category.

If you haven’t had a chance to dive into this extraordinary saga yet, I highly recommend it for an immersive and thought-provoking experience.

This gripping series is an adaptation of Mick Herron’s “Slough House” novel series, with the first book “Slow Horses” being published in 2010. The show “Palm Royale” received three Emmy nominations for 2024 in the categories of Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Kristen Wiig), and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Carol Burnett). Despite its origins from the 2018 book “Mr. & Mrs. American Pie” by Juliet McDaniel, the Apple TV+ series deviates significantly from its original storyline. The series is set in the late ’60s and chronicles Kristen Wiig’s character Maxine Simmons, a former beauty pageant queen, as she strives to join the high society of Palm Beach. However, contrary to the novel, where Maxine is banished from Palm Springs to Scottsdale, Ariz., after causing a drunken commotion following her husband’s revelation that he plans to leave her for his secretary at Thanksgiving.

Set near the end of the Vietnam War, this HBO production revolves around a Vietnamese spy who escapes to a U.S. refugee camp and faces a struggle with his divided loyalties as he secretly continues to work for the Viet Cong. In 2024 Emmys, Robert Downey Jr., who portrayed five distinct roles in the series, received the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Debuting on Hulu in 2017, this television series was an adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel from 1985, set in the totalitarian state of Gilead after a Second American Civil War. Since then, it has moved beyond its original source material, following the story of June Osborne, portrayed by Elisabeth Moss, who is the main character and a handmaid living under oppression. The series has been acclaimed, winning several Emmys, such as Outstanding Drama Series in its first season.
This groundbreaking mini-series was initially based on the 1976 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Roots: The Saga of an American Family” by Alex Haley. According to the 2014 novel “You Should Have Known” by Jean Hanff Korelitz, Nicole Kidman once again took center stage in a murder mystery series titled The Undoing. Grace Fraser (Kidman), a therapist, finds her life spiraling when her husband Jonathan (Hugh Grant) becomes the prime suspect in the killing of Elena Alves (Matilda De Angelis).
Despite some mixed feelings about the show’s ending, there seemed to be a consensus among viewers that Nicole Kidman’s costumes were top-notch throughout the series.
This crime drama centered around Dexter Morgan, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, who is a blood splatter analyst during the day and a nighttime serial killer, was initially inspired by books written by Jeff Lindsay.
