Josh Duhamel‘s still got some straightening out to do.
In truth, after his 2019 divorce from Fergie and sharing an 11-year-old son Axl with her, the former Transformers star revealed he had to learn quite a bit about himself. The key takeaway, as he shared with Parade in an interview published on April 10, is that he continues to evolve, recognizing he’s still a piece in progress.
Josh doesn’t harbor ill feelings towards the “Big Girls Don’t Cry” singer, contrary to what might be assumed. In his own words, he has a minimal amount of disagreements with Fergie, aged 50, when it comes to co-parenting responsibilities.
So, why did they break up in the first place?
In his interview on In Depth with Graham Bensinger in 2023, he expressed that we share a common understanding – we’re fundamentally distinct individuals. He elaborated that being in the limelight never felt natural to him, it was overwhelming. He longed for the unadorned essence of who he truly is.
Because of this, Josh, who is a father to their 15-month-old son Shepherd together with his wife Audra Mari, chose to relocate his family away from Hollywood.
He explained to Parade that one of the primary motivations behind constructing his home in a secluded part of Minnesota, surrounded by forests, was its isolation from urban life. The nearest store is approximately 40 miles away. Upon our occasional visits there, it’s all about fostering a sense of community – creating lasting memories, spending quality time with loved ones and supporting one another.
The actor from the movie “Shotgun Wedding” added, “It offers an opportunity to return to fundamentals. You’re not overwhelmed by various distractions. Out there, it’s all about enjoyment, ensuring everyone stays comfortable, has enough food, and water.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can share that my son, Axl – much like his parents – has developed a fondness for nature. To quote me, “He trades his iPad for the great outdoors. Whether it’s boating with me, playing soccer on the beach, or exploring the woods alongside me, he’s always fully engaged.
He continued, “I also have a young child who will face similar situations.” He emphasized that it’s not merely about enjoying all the comforts and riches we grow accustomed to. Instead, it’s deeply rooted in family values and creating a lasting legacy.
