In the third season of the show Yellowjackets, we delve into the mental breakdown of the teenage characters as they attempt to reconstruct their lives in a seemingly spiritual forest. However, in the current timeline, tranquility is disrupted again when evidence of their dark actions resurfaces, putting them all at risk of death or imprisonment. The season effectively wraps up many lingering plot points, and it seems that the creative team is organizing the storyline for a final resolution of Yellowjackets. With Season 3 now available in its entirety, it’s an ideal time to explore how the series is nearing its finish.
WARNING: Spoilers below for Yellowjackets Season 3, Episode 10
Previously, those who survived reached out to the wider world and it won’t be long until they are saved. However, in the current timeline, the Yellowjackets have permanently parted ways, with each member on edge, ready to attack at a moment’s notice. Although the Season 3 finale provided answers to some of the show’s longest-standing questions, such as who the Pit Girl is, there are still many unresolved queries that need to be tackled in Season 4 of Yellowjackets.
What Happened to Akilah in Yellowjackets Season 3?
In the last episode of Season 3 of Yellowjackets, character Akilah (played by Nia Sondaya) faces off with Lottie (Courtney Eaton) in a cave. This encounter occurs after Akilah learns that she no longer trusts the ‘Wilderness’. The tipping point for Akilah was when Lottie persuaded her to kill all the farm animals as a warning to the other survivors, which Lottie believed would prove the existence of an otherworldly entity. Unfortunately, this act led Akilah to lose faith in the supernatural and come to the belief that Lottie is mentally unstable and responsible for the team’s predicament.
In the final moments, Akilah can be seen clutching a stone, seemingly ready to strike Lottie’s head. The ensuing events remain unclear, but it’s Lottie who returns to the camp on her own. Due to the chaos of the hunting ritual, it’s plausible that the Yellowjackets didn’t realize Akilah was missing. Yet, the upcoming Season 4 of Yellowjackets will undoubtedly reveal the details of Lottie and Akilah’s encounter.
How Will Hannah Die?
In the third series of Yellowjackets, Shauna’s life is dramatically altered when she receives a puzzling cassette containing incriminating footage showing the girls’ appalling behavior in the wilderness. As we learn throughout the show, this tape was secretly recorded by Hannah (Ashley Sutton), a frog researcher who accidentally discovers the team during one of their dark cannibalistic rituals where they consume Coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger). The tape is sent to Shauna by Melissa (Hilary Swank) as a means to alleviate the remorse she’s harbored for decades following Hannah’s tragic death in the woods.
At the close of Season 3 in the show Yellowjackets, characters Teen Melissa (Jenna Burgess) and Hannah were developing their bond. However, Teen Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) had already alerted rescuers to locate the girls in the woods. This sets up a scenario for Season 4 where Hannah will ask Melissa to retrieve her tape and deliver it to her daughter before meeting an untimely end at the hands of the other girls. Since Melissa is ridden with guilt over Hannah’s death, her fate may have been particularly gruesome, leaving us eager to uncover the specifics of her demise.
Where Is Adult Melissa?
Following Shauna’s break-in at Melissa’s home, mistaking a tape for a threat, the harmonious life she shared with Hannah’s daughter is shattered irrevocably. In an attempt to evade Shauna’s anger, Melissa initially blocks the air vent of her fireplace, causing lethal fumes to fill the house. Subsequently, she murders Van (Lauren Ambrose) as the other Yellowjackets survivors are yet to fully recover. On the run and aware that Shauna has destroyed her marriage and bond with her daughter, Melissa seems poised for retaliation. We can only speculate what awaits in Season 4 of Yellowjackets, as it may shed light on Melissa’s whereabouts and intentions.
Will Jeff and Callie Escape Shauna in Yellowjackets Season 4?
In Season 3 of the series “Yellowjackets,” it’s unveiled that Callie (Sarah Desjardins) inadvertently killed Lottie (Simone Kessell). Due to being entangled in the Yellowjackets chaos by her troubled mother, Callie finds herself on a trajectory of violence and simmering fury. When Lottie attempts to persuade Callie that she is meant for greatness in the Wilderness and will surpass her mother’s cruelty, Callie reaches her breaking point and pushes Lottie, causing her to fall down a staircase and perish. This unintentional act serves as a stark reminder of how Shauna has been gradually tainting her family with her tumultuous life.
After discovering the truth, Jeff (Warren Kole) decides to flee with Callie, aiming to maintain some space between himself and Shauna to shield his daughter from her harmful impact. This selfless act underscores why Jeff is a more responsible parent than Shauna, as he prioritizes her safety above all else. However, due to her vengeful and selfish nature, it’s likely that Shauna will pursue Jeff and Callie. In the upcoming season of Yellowjackets, we’ll find out if Jeff and Callie can enjoy a peaceful life together amidst Shauna’s relentless instigation of chaos.
Which Taissa Wants to Kill Shauna?
At the end of Season 3, Taissa (Tawny Cypress) comes to believe that Shauna is responsible for all the tragic events befalling the survivors in their current timeline. Shauna’s carelessness with her diaries leads Jeff to uncover the truth about the wilderness, which sets off a chain of events culminating in Natalie’s (Juliette Lewis) demise. Moreover, as Taissa explains, if Shauna hadn’t pursued Melissa without reason, Van would still be alive. To Taissa, Shauna has become too dangerous and must be stopped before she causes more harm. Misty (Christina Ricci) shares this view and teams up with Taissa to put an end to Shauna once and for all.
In Season 4 of Yellowjackets, it appears that Taissa and Misty will engage in a life-or-death struggle against Shauna. However, the specific intentions of Taissa regarding Shauna’s fate remain unclear. The third season revealed that “Dark Taissa” has taken control of her body, but Van’s heroic rescue allows Taissa to confront her darker self and regain possession of her own body. With Van’s demise, Taissa seems ready to embrace the darkness within herself in order to eliminate Shauna. However, it remains uncertain whether she is surrendering fully to Dark Taissa or if both personalities will merge into a stronger individual. The upcoming season of Yellowjackets needs to clarify the inner turmoil that Taissa is experiencing.
