We’re nearly there! The second season of The Last of Us is about to hit our screens, and the long-awaited premiere is only a few days off.

In the latest edition, the story resumes five years following the emotionally charged finale, where Joel (Pedro Pascal) took an unexpected and dramatic action at the last moment to safeguard Ellie’s (Bella Ramsey) life, thereby halting her body from being utilized in search of a cure.

In the upcoming season, viewers can expect a peak in their strained relationship as he carries the burden of his deceit, and Ramsey expresses his intention to delve deeper into Ellie’s emotional weight this time around: “For season 2, I aimed to explore her heaviness more profoundly.

As well as our fan-favourites returning, there have also been plenty of new additions to the cast!

Initially, I was thought to be the perfect fit for the role of Ellie in the early plans for The Last of Us’s movie adaption. However, in the final version of the game and its subsequent series, I’m honored to play Abby, a crucial character from the original games.

Neil Druckmann justified the casting choice by stating: “Performance takes precedence over everything else for us. What we truly seek is an actor who can embody the characters genuinely…. Appearance-wise, it’s not as important to us that they match perfectly with their eyebrows, nose, body or any other feature.

“It’s not nowhere on the priority list, but it’s below a bunch of other things that we consider.”

Her unique immunity to the cordyceps fungus led her on a nationwide journey with Joel, but their relationship changed significantly when he suddenly removed her from it (and deceived her). This dynamic between them shifts in Season 2.

But if you’ve watched His Dark Materials, Becoming Elizabeth, Hilda, The Worst Witch, or Time, then you’ve also seen her there. Pedro Pascal plays Joel

Who is Joel? – Joel is a resilient survivor from The Last of Us, burdened by past pain. In the first season, he embarked on a journey across a post-apocalyptic United States, safeguarding Ellie throughout. Faced with a choice, he opted to halt Ellie’s medical procedure that might have led to her demise. To protect Ellie from the truth, Joel deceived her regarding the outcome of their journey, which may foster tension between them in season 2.
