Previously, Pamela Hayden, a long-term voice actor known for her roles on “The Simpsons” such as Milhouse, Jimbo Jones, and the Flanders boys (Rod and Todd), declared her departure last year to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. Since she had been part of the show for about thirty-five years, fans wondered who would be stepping into these iconic animated roles from Springfield. Fortunately, we now know who will be assuming one of these roles: Jimbo Jones. According to Variety, a new cast member has been chosen to voice this notorious bully of Bart’s. With “The Simpsons” renewed until season forty, the fresh addition to the team could have a promising career ahead.
Comedian Mo Collins is set to portray Jimbo Jones in an upcoming episode titled “P.S. I Hate You,” airing this Sunday, April 13th. With a rich background in Hollywood, Collins has appeared in both live-action and animated productions. In live-action, she was a significant part of MadTV and had roles on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Parks And Rec, Modern Family, Fear The Walking Dead, Arrested Development, Grey’s Anatomy, and Night Court. On the animated side, Collins has lent her voice to American Dad, Family Guy, Invader Zim, F Is For Family, King of The Hill, and many others. As of now, it hasn’t been confirmed that Collins will voice the Flanders’ sons or Milhouse in future projects.
Advice For The Next Springfield Generation
After Hayden announced her departure, she offered some wisdom for the actors taking over her characters. She expressed that it might feel a bit strange to see these roles played by someone else, but what she truly hopes is that the newcomers won’t simply imitate her performances. Instead, they should infuse their own personality and creativity into the roles, ensuring they sound like Milhouse while making unique, creative choices.
Speaking about Hayden’s plans post-“The Simpsons,” she elaborated, “I plan to invest more energy into my artistic pursuits, primarily filmmaking and writing.” Regarding her upcoming projects, she mentioned a documentary titled ‘Jailhouse to Milhouse,’ which isn’t directly linked to ‘The Simpsons.’ Instead, it focuses on individuals who have faced hardships. As someone who empathizes deeply with underserved and at-risk young girls, I share my experiences with them, encouraging them by saying, “If I could make it, so can you.” Having navigated some challenging times in my youth, I see a reflection of that struggle in Milhouse’s character. Every obstacle shouldn’t dampen your spirit; there’s always a brighter day waiting tomorrow.
In the previous year’s edition of The Simpsons’ annual Halloween spectacular, known as Treehouse of Horror, Milhouse’s final appearance as portrayed by Pamela was aired. As for Springfield, Mo Collins has a substantial task ahead in terms of the significant impact that Pamela Hayden had on the show.
