Luffy and Loki Both Tried to Join Their Childhood Heroes’ Pirate Crews in One Piece

Although initially portrayed as an adversary, One Piece is subtly revealing that Loki harbors complexities beyond his initial image. Known as the “Curse-stricken Prince” who allegedly murdered his own father in cold blood, Luffy and Loki appear to be polar opposites, with Loki adopting the role of Nika the destroyer while Luffy embodies the brighter aspects of Nika’s legacy through history. However, a significant similarity between Loki and Luffy has surfaced in the most recent One Piece chapter, which could significantly impact their relationship moving forward.

In Chapter 1145, I find myself reminiscing about my past aspirations, much like Luffy’s current longing to meet Shanks. As a young lad, I too harbored dreams of joining Rocks D. Xebec’s crew, just as Luffy yearns to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Captain Shanks.

In this chapter, we get a glimpse into my past, where I boldly approached Xebec, much like Luffy did with Shanks at the beginning of One Piece. However, unlike the luck that seemed to favor Luffy, Xebec rejected my plea, leaving me no choice but to prove myself in a battle – a battle that I unfortunately lost.

This defeat forced me to accept that I was born in an era where my dreams could not be realized. Now, looking back, I can’t help but feel a pang of bitterness at the thought that my time had passed before I even set sail.

One Piece Reveals a Surprising Link Between Loki and Rocks D. Xebec

Rocks D. Xebec, even after countless stories and adventures in “One Piece”, continues to be one of the most enigmatic characters, with his impact on the narrative often emerging in the least anticipated forms. The news that Loki had any link to this legendary pirate left fans utterly astonished. It remains uncertain what Rocks’ true intentions were during his visit to Elbaf. Yet, the fact that powerful pirates such as Roger, Shanks, and even Luffy have been attracted to the island hints at it concealing a multitude of secrets beyond just the Harley, the ancient mural, and the 3000-year-old laboratory.

In addition to enhancing the enigma surrounding Elbaf, the disclosure in Chapter 1145 significantly deepens the complexity of Loki’s character, reinforcing the similarities between him and Luffy. For quite a while now, the Elbaf Arc has been subtly hinting at these comparisons, as Loki claims to be the Sun God, although one who heralds the apocalypse, a role that Loki himself confirms in Chapter 1130. Conversely, Luffy is being positioned as a more benevolent counterpart of the Sun God Nika on the Harley, characterized by his laughter, dance, and liberation of people.

Intriguingly, both Loki and Luffy share a strong admiration for Xebec and Shanks respectively, which makes them seem remarkably alike. However, this adoration also highlights an ideological distinction between them. This contrast might ultimately determine whether Luffy and Loki will stand against each other or unite in the Elbaf Arc.

Loki May End Up Being Luffy’s Biggest Rival

The discovery that Loki admires Rocks implies he might harbor a similar ambition of ruling the world, a goal that Blackbeard is also rumored to pursue. Interestingly, Rocks and Roger are considered fierce rivals, and if Loki were to inherit Rocks’ position, it would once more place him in opposition to Luffy, who assumes Roger’s role. However, visualizing Loki pledging allegiance to someone like Blackbeard is challenging.

It seems quite possible that Loki and Luffy might follow in the footsteps of Rocks and Roger, developing a rivalry rather than an alliance. This scenario could be more favorable compared to creating a full-blown adversary out of Loki, given his current position which appears to keep him away from joining the Straw Hats. If Elbaf indeed mirrors God Valley’s trajectory as fans predict, Loki may find himself in a role similar to his idol Rocks.
