Is Mrs. Flood the Doctor’s Long-Lost Granddaughter? Wild Theories Unveiled!

Warning: Contains spoilers for Doctor Who episode The Robot Revolution.

Anita Dobson’s character, Mrs. Flood, is making a comeback in the latest season of Doctor Who, and she remains just as flamboyant as before!

Ever since the 2023 Christmas special, “The Church on Ruby Road,” viewers have been eagerly speculating about the true identity of Mrs. Flood. Now, it has officially been revealed that this enigma will be finally unveiled in the season 15 finale.

But why?! Here are some of the best theories about Mrs Flood’s identity.

Who is Mrs Flood in Doctor Who? All the theories for Anita Dobson role

A member of the Pantheon of Chaos?

Previously hinted in Wild Blue Yonder, it was suggested that ominous forces would appear, and indeed they did with characters such as The Toymaker (Neil Patrick Harris) and Maestro (Jinkx Monsoon). However, we also know that more are to come, as alluded to by Russell T Davies.

Is it possible that Mrs. Flood is also part of this group of powerful entities, and could she be monitoring Ruby Sunday for some specific purpose?

Furthermore, Maestro is among a small group, including the Doctor, who have recently broken the fourth wall in their appearances.

Susan Foreman?

Given Mrs. Flood’s knowledge of the TARDIS and frequent mentions related to the Doctor’s family, including the Doctor himself, Susan, and his descendants, some viewers have proposed the intriguing theory that Mrs. Flood could potentially be the long-lost granddaughter of the Doctor, Susan Foreman, portrayed by Carole Ann Ford.

Certainly, given Susan’s extensive association with the TARDIS and her comprehensive understanding of time travel, it’s plausible to consider if she might have somehow traveled back in time and undergone a regeneration at one point.

Another Time Lord?

Indeed, Susan isn’t the sole Gallifreyan who might assume the identity of Mrs. Flood. It could very well be the Master, the Rani, Romana, or even the Meddling Monk disguised as Ruby’s kind neighbor.

It would certainly explain the familiarity with a TARDIS, that’s for sure!

Something entirely unexpected?

Due to the scant information available about Mrs. Flood, there’s essentially no boundary to interpreting her genuine character.

In The Tale of Ruby Sunday, it was Mrs. Flood who reappeared, called by Michelle Greenridge’s character, Carla Sunday. Her purpose was to care for Cherry, played by Angela Wynter, allowing Carla to join Millie Gibson’s character, Ruby, at UNIT HQ.

It appears that Mrs. Flood had some kind of knowledge about the approaching deity Sutekh – what exactly tipped her off and her true identity are still mysteries to unravel.

I will break down his gates of gold with a tempest and claim his realm under my true identity.

I apologize, so deeply sorry, this is how it ends… My plans were grand.

At the conclusion of the episode, they, alongside all universal life forms, were reinstated. Mrs. Flood then addressed the Doctor as a “shrewd young man.

Yet, one of the most intriguing cliffhangers last season regarding Mrs. Flood’s identity emerged in the closing moments of the episode. In these scenes, Mrs. Flood was depicted standing on the rooftop of Ruby’s building, adorned in a fur coat and using an umbrella to protect herself from the falling snow.

For the second time, she directly addressed the audience through the camera, concluding her narrative by saying, “That wraps up the tale of The Church on Ruby Road. A delightful conclusion for our young protagonist, Ruby Sunday.

Life continues relentlessly, doesn’t it? You may ponder about the fate of the enigmatic traveler through time and space, commonly known as the Doctor. Regrettably, his tale concludes with unadulterated fear. Goodnight.

Is it possible that Mrs. Flood could reappear as a recurring figure, or might she be an entirely fresh and unexpected addition to the storyline? Regardless, we’ll stay vigilant, searching for any hints that may come our way.
