PS5 to Receive Major Xbox Game ‘Age of Empires 2’ Next Month

Microsoft persists with its “This Is an Xbox” campaign, but has decided to make one of its exclusive first-party games available on Sony’s PlayStation 5 platform. This month, the iconic gaming brand is set to release two of its most anticipated titles on the PlayStation console. First up is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, scheduled for launch on April 17th. Following close behind is Forza Horizon 5, another critically acclaimed open-world racing game, which will be available starting April 29th. Next month, one of the most endearing real-time strategy (RTS) games ever made will make its way to the PlayStation 5.

Earlier, World’s Edge Studios announced that their hit Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, is set for release on PlayStation 5 this year. The official launch date has been confirmed to be May 6th. If you’re excited to play it on your PS5, you can pre-order both the Standard and Premium editions from the PlayStation Store right now. This move suggests that Microsoft will introduce at least three of its major first-party Xbox games onto the PS5 within a span of four weeks.

Discover both the classic Campaigns along with top-selling expansions in an unprecedented way, as suggested on the PlayStation Store. Immerse yourself in over 200 hours of gameplay and a thousand years of human history for the ultimate Age of Empires II adventure!

Starting next month, you can purchase the Standard Version of “Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition” for $39.99. If you pre-order this edition, you’ll receive 24 animated profile icons as bonus content, along with the “The Mountain Royals” DLC that features the Armenian and Georgian civilizations, and three new campaigns. Additionally, there’s a Premium Edition of the game available, offering early access up to 5 days before launch, and including the upcoming “The Three Kingdoms” DLC set for release on May 6th. On the PS Store, the Premium Edition is priced at $59.99, and it includes all of the following:

1. Early Access (up to 5 days)
2. The Three Kingdoms DLC (available from May 6th)
3. Bonus Animated Profile Icons (same as in the Standard Edition if pre-ordered)
4. 24 Bonus Animated Profile Icons (exclusive to Premium Edition)
5. The Mountain Royals DLC (same as in the Standard Edition if pre-ordered)
6. Three New Campaigns (same as in the Standard Edition if pre-ordered)

  • Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition game
  • The Three Kingdoms DLC (launches May 6th)
  • Chronicles: Battle for Greece DLC
  • The Mountain Royals DLC
  • Return of Rome DLC
  • Victors and Vanquished DLC
  • Up to 5 Days Early Access

Keep in mind that the trial for playing Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition ahead of time starts on May 1st. Unfortunately, while it’s exciting, you won’t get to experience the upcoming The Three Kingdoms DLC early during this period. Instead, the new civilizations and campaigns will be accessible when both the DLC and Standard Edition are officially released on May 6th.

If you’re a fan of real-time strategy games on PS5, there’s an exclusive Premium Bundle that offers you both the Premium Editions of “Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition” and the newly launched “Age of Mythology: Retold”. For just $99.99, you can own all the content for these two games. The advantage is that since “Age of Mythology: Retold” has already been released, by pre-ordering the bundle, you’ll be able to play it immediately!
