Rey’s Shocking Sith Future Revealed in Star Wars Comic!

Regardless of personal feelings, the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy is enduringly popular, despite some divisive opinions. Despite a mixed reception, these films offer a wealth of intriguing details. From speculations about Ezra Bridger’s possible link to Snoke to Finn potentially possessing Force sensitivity, fans have come up with numerous theories. With the comic book adaptations of these movies gaining traction, new fan theories are emerging. Case in point: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker #2, which presents an intriguing alternate history that leaves fans buzzing positively. In this scenario, Rey Skywalker turns to the dark side, and we can’t help but be fascinated by this possibility.

Penned by Jody Houser, illustrated by Will Sliney and Guru e-FX, the second issue of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, penned just a few weeks ago, is creating quite a stir. This comic book series aims to convert the movies into a graphic novel format, closely mirroring the films scene by scene. However, there are some variations, such as an intriguing “what if” scenario stemming from alternate events in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. To set the stage, we find ourselves amidst a fierce battle between Rey and Kylo Ren over a ship that has snatched our beloved Chewbacca. The battle reaches its climax with the ship’s explosion; however, the film reassures us that Chewie is on another vessel. In this comic adaptation, though, an alternative idea was briefly explored.

How Events Could Have Led Rey Down a Different Path in Life

After the ship’s devastation, where Chewbacca was thought to have perished, a different future is depicted, suggesting Rey may have succumbed to the Dark Side. Although the scene is brief, it initially shows Rey recognizing that the force responsible for Chewie’s death originated from her. Later, she is shown sitting on a throne next to Kylo Ren. This portrayed future could be hinting at Rey Skywalker’s intended destiny. It is plausible that this scene foreshadowed an altered path for Rey in the subsequent films, following audience feedback.

Of course, the comic doesn’t keep us in suspense for long about Chewie’s fate. Just a few pages after his apparent demise, the crew resumes their mission to rescue him, thus aligning the story with the movie plot once more. For a fleeting instant, however, we caught a glimpse of Rey’s potential slide into darkness, spurred by yet another loss in her family.

A Deeper Look at Rey’s Dark Side

This “what if” scenario seems more gradual than it initially appears. Let’s delve into it. To begin with, it’s important to note that Force lightning is typically associated with the dark side. Granted, there are exceptions like Plo Koon who used something akin to it (a weaker variant). However, Rey’s seemingly effortless mastery of Force Lightning deserves attention, and it could have been explored more in the film had they not been preoccupied with rescuing Chewie. The significance of this Sith weapon potentially ending her friend’s life cannot be underestimated, as it could have easily swayed Rey towards the dark side.

Afterward, it’s worth noting that Rey has been consistently pulled toward the dark side. This is something that troubled Luke Skywalker significantly when he found out, especially since during her trials, she swiftly ventured into the cave on Ahch-To, a place representing dark energy. In simpler terms, this isn’t typically where heroes would feel an attraction. Delving deeper into Rey’s connection to the dark side, we can consider her lineage. Rey is the grandchild of Palpatine (Sheeve). Although family ties don’t necessarily dictate one’s path, as shown by Luke Skywalker, they do suggest that Rey might be inclined to walk a different route.

Let’s delve into the possibility of Rey joining the dark side, a path previously taken by characters like Anakin. In the Star Wars prequels, Anakin transformed from a respected Jedi Knight into a Sith Lord, ready to kill innocents for his cause. While it might seem unlikely that Rey will follow this exact path, there aren’t many younglings training as Jedi right now. A popular fan theory could add depth to this scenario. If Finn is indeed Force-sensitive, as some theories suggest, he could potentially balance Rey’s power, creating a compelling betrayal dynamic!

Regardless of perspective, the notion that Rey could become Rey Skywalker, embracing the dark side, is captivating. It seems fitting for her to rise, vanquish Emperor Palpatine, and claim his throne, becoming Supreme Empress Rey, Queen of the Sith. Long live her reign!
