After a long wait, Sonic Rumble is set to debut globally on May 8th. However, the new Sonic the Hedgehog game has sparked some debate since it was released in other regions last year but not in North America. But finally, the day is almost here! The developers are still adding new events to keep players engaged. The latest event, which has garnered a lot of attention from longtime Sega fans, is the first crossover event for this game. This crossover will introduce characters from different Sega games like Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and Fantasy Zone.
The current live crossover event between Sega Superstars and Sonic Rumble features a special offer: all players receive a free Werewolf skin from Altered Beast. Additional skins include AiAi, MeeMee, Opa-Opa, Upa-Upa, Weredragon, and Werebear. After the announcement, Sega hinted at more crossover events in the game without specifying which characters will be included. Given Sega’s extensive roster of characters, it’s likely that we might see more of their popular figures joining the game later on. A video for this event can be found below.
Previously, Sega announced that numerous cosmetics from the game “Sonic Rumble” will be available again once it’s launched globally. Despite this, it’s understandable for fans to feel envious about the content being rolled out. It seems Sega is attempting to maintain interest in the game among regions where it’s already available. However, it appears strange that they would host such an event before everyone worldwide can play. The partnership was unveiled on X/Twitter, and many comments expressed fan disappointment.
LowPolyBunny asks, ‘Are these characters exclusively available during this event? If they’ll be accessible after the global launch, could you clarify that for us who are eagerly awaiting it? It seems unfair to have this event and then end it without giving everyone a chance to obtain them.’
X/Twitter user Flame Lance expressed disappointment, stating that they had hoped the Monkey Ball characters would appear in the game, but adding them prior to its official release seems like an unfortunate decision.
The first part of the “Sonic Rumble” Crossover Event #0 is wrapping up on May 7th, a day before its global debut. This choice seems peculiar, leaving fans worldwide to ponder how long they’ll have to wait for another chance to experience this crossover. Perhaps Sega should have opted for a theme that appeals more to their dedicated fanbase. In the meantime, Sonic the Hedgehog enthusiasts can only exercise patience as they await the game’s local launch on Steam and mobile platforms.
