The popular animated series “Rick and Morty” is preparing to come back on Adult Swim with Season 8 this coming Spring, and one of its upcoming episodes might reintroduce the Interdimensional Cable specials in a fresh format. Essentially, Season 8 of “Rick and Morty” is currently being produced for release later in May, and Adult Swim has launched a new advertising campaign to hype up the return of the series. This means that viewers can expect ten more wild escapades featuring Rick Sanchez and the Smith family.
In the announcement for Season 8 of “Rick and Morty,” Adult Swim didn’t just share the episode titles, they also gave us a sneak peek into what each upcoming release might entail through an animatic. One of these episodes is titled “Ricker Than Fiction,” which seems to hint at a comeback of the Interdimensional Cable format that fans have missed for quite some time.
Is Rick and Morty Bringing Back Interdimensional Cable?
If we presume that the sequence of episode titles in Season 8 of “Rick and Morty” follows their actual order, then “Ricker Than Fiction” would be the seventh episode of the season. A short clip for this episode shows Rick and Morty watching a strange TV program. Whether this is merely a humorous moment within the show or something more significant, like a comeback of the Interdimensional Cable format, remains uncertain.
In the “Interdimensional Cable” episode of Rick and Morty, they embarked on an intergalactic TV viewing journey, hopping from one show to another across the cosmos. The format was quite casual, with much of it being spontaneous, particularly by Justin Roiland, who was a co-creator at the time. However, Adult Swim ended their association with him. The loose format resurfaced in just one episode later, but subsequently changed for other specials like “Morty’s Mind Blowers” seen in subsequent seasons. Yet, there are hints that the original concept could be revived in this new episode as Rick and Morty might find themselves glued to some bizarre television shows once more.
When Does Rick and Morty Season 8 Come Out?
The eighth season of “Rick and Morty” is set to premiere on May 25th at 11:00pm ET/PT on Adult Swim. Additionally, the new season will be available for streaming starting September 1st later this year on both Max and Hulu. Co-creator Dan Harmon, along with showrunner Scott Marder, will return for the new season, as well as the main voice cast consisting of Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer in their respective roles.
Regarding the upcoming season of the unpredictable series “Rick and Morty,” Adult Swim hints at Season 8 as follows: “Prepare for Rick and Morty‘s return in Season Eight! Life now has purpose once again! The impossible becomes possible! Keep an eye out for Summer, Jerry, Beth, and the other Beth. Perhaps Butter Bot will receive a fresh assignment? No matter what transpires, you can bet that Rick and Morty won’t stay down for long. Many have tried!
