I carried out multiple tests on the Geekom IT13 to assess its capabilities. Although its CPU and GPU performance aren’t extraordinarily high, they are commendable and satisfactory in general.

Meanwhile, its SSD speeds aren’t quite where I’d want them to be, but they’re not horrible.

During CrystalDiskMark tests, this SSD delivered read speeds of approximately 4080 megabytes per second and write speeds of about 3226 megabytes per second, which is satisfactory.

The IT13 functioned poorly only in two situations: first, when I was operating with a staggering number of 21 Google Chrome browser tabs open (admittedly, I can be rather excessive), and second, when I unintentionally set Photoshop to resize an image to a colossal 2048 inches instead of the intended 2048 pixels.

Even then, the mini PC never crashed or froze; it just slowed down from thermal throttling.

Thermals and fan noise

Despite having a very small form factor, the Geekom IT13 does have a decent cooling system.

I took temperature and noise readings while the mini PC ran CPU-stress testing for 20 minutes.

It’s no surprise that the hottest spot on the mini PC is its rear vent, reaching up to 136 degrees Fahrenheit or approximately 57.8 degrees Celsius. In comparison, the upper back casing part maxed out at 106 degrees Fahrenheit (~41.1 degrees Celsius), still warm but not excessively hot to touch.

The sound level from the mini PC reached a maximum of 54.7 decibels when measured close to the vents, whereas the sound level maxed out at just 38.0 decibels when I placed the decibel meter by my ear while sitting at my desk.

This isn’t excessively noisy, and it doesn’t have the bothersome hum of a fan that I’ve found in certain compact computers.

Component access and upgradability

With the clear, step-by-step instructions provided, I found it effortless to open the Geekom IT13 device.

Essentially, you’ll need to turn the mini PC over, unscrew the screws hidden in the footpads, and gently lift off the bottom case to reveal the inside.

From the images provided, it’s clear that the compact computer includes two dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory slots capable of accommodating a maximum of 64GB of RAM.
