Prime Video Just Added a Jack Reacher Movie (But It’s Not as Good as the TV Series)

For a while now, “Reacher” has been the top-tier original series on Amazon Prime Video, with each of its three seasons breaking viewership records for the streaming platform. However, the latest season has concluded, initiating the anticipation for Season 4 – which might take longer than usual because they’re also working on a spinoff series based on Neagley. So, what are fans supposed to do until then (apart from watching the Neagley show once it releases)? Well, Amazon Prime Video has provided an alternative Reacher fix, albeit not identical to the cherished series.

On Monday, the streaming service Prime Video made available for viewing the feature film “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,” a sequel to the 2012 action movie “Jack Reacher.” Both films feature Tom Cruise as the main character, Jack Reacher.

Fans of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels often found Tom Cruise’s portrayal less than satisfying due to the significant size difference between the character in the books and Cruise. In the novels, Reacher is a giant among men, taller than most opponents. However, despite this disparity, Cruise demonstrates the necessary action skills to maintain a franchise.

Thankfully, the Reacher series adopted a more authentic style, as Alan Ritchson slipped seamlessly into the character’s shoes.

Regardless of whether you consider Cruise as your perfect portrayal of Reacher, the latest film is still a must-watch for fans of the character. The movie is based on the novel “Never Go Back,” which ranks among Jack Reacher’s most popular books. Since the movie covers that source material, it’s unlikely that the upcoming TV show will explore the same storyline, making this potentially your only chance to witness the story of “Never Go Back” unfold on screen.
