20 years ago, on May 19, the excitement started with the theater release of “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.” This movie marked the fall of Jedi Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen) into the dark side and his transformation into the Sith Lord Darth Vader. It was the conclusion of the six-film Star Wars saga, becoming the first to receive a PG-13 rating. Now, in honor of its 20th anniversary, this third installment of George Lucas’ prequel trilogy is coming back to cinemas.

Disney and Lucasfilm have made it known that tickets can now be purchased for the 20th anniversary re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, set to return to movie theaters in the U.S. and selected international regions from April 25, for a limited one-week run. You can grab your tickets on the Fandango website.

To put it simply, various theater chains like AMC, Alamo Drafthouse, B&B, Cinemark, Fandango, Galaxy, Harkins, Marcus, Megaplex, and Regal are hosting anniversary screenings for the movie “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”. This movie will be available in various formats, with a new addition being immersive and interactive 4DX. As mentioned in a press release, the 4DX experience of this film offers advanced motion seats that coordinate with over 21 effects, enhancing the storyline from the opening battle above Coruscant to the final confrontation between Anakin and Obi-Wan on Mustafar’s volcanic high grounds.

To mark the anniversary rerelease, we have a fresh poster for “Revenge of the Sith” created by artist Matt Ferguson, as shown earlier in this post.

The story unfolds several years post the commencement of the Clone Wars, with the Jedi Order commanding a clone army in a galactic conflict against the Separatists. As the ominous Sith figure Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) reveals an age-old scheme to dominate the galaxy, the Republic disintegrates, giving birth to the malevolent Galactic Empire. Anakin Skywalker, determined to shield a pregnant Padmé (Natalie Portman) from her destiny, is lured by the dark side of the Force and transforms into Darth Vader, the Emperor’s new disciple. In doing so, he betrays his old companion and guide, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor).

The movie includes Frank Oz portraying Yoda, Jimmy Smits taking on the role of Bail Organa, Kenny Baker as R2-D2, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca, Matthew Wood voicing General Grievous, Ahmed Best playing Jar-Jar Binks, and Temuera Morrison depicting the Clone Troopers who carry out Order 66. Additionally, Christopher Lee is cast as Count Dooku, and Samuel L. Jackson is featured as Mace Windu in this production.

“You can stream ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’ on Disney+ right now, or catch it in theaters from April 25 to May 2. The screening ends a day before ‘Star Wars Day’ on May the Fourth.”
