Anticipation ran high for the Season 2 premiere of “The Last of Us” on HBO Sunday, so it’s not a big shock that the show’s initial viewing figures were impressive on its debut day.
According to Deadline, the first episode of “The Last of Us’s” second season premiered on Sunday and garnered approximately 5.3 million viewers in the US across all streaming platforms. This is a 10% increase compared to the first-day viewership of the Season 1 premiere in 2023, which attracted 4.7 million US viewers. The total number of viewers for Season 1’s premiere eventually reached over 32 million, so it will be intriguing to observe how the debut of Season 2 performs.
It’s worth noting that according to Variety, the overall viewership for Season 1 saw a significant jump of 150% during the week preceding the debut of Season 2.
There are only six more episodes in Season 2 of “The Last of Us”, and the next one airs on April 20th. You can watch a new trailer for the upcoming installments by clicking here. HBO has also confirmed that there will be a third season.
