This is not what Lil Nas X wants.
The artist behind “Old Town Road” announced that he has been admitted to a hospital due to temporary facial paralysis, but remains optimistic throughout the ordeal.
In an Instagram video posted on April 14th, Lil Nas commented, “When I smile, this is me doing a full smile.” However, as he spoke, only the left side of his face appeared to lift in a smile. He joked with laughter, “It’s like, what the heck? I can’t even laugh right! Oh my god.” In simpler terms, Lil Nas said that when he smiles, it looks like a full smile, but in reality, only half of his face moves up during the action. He also expressed his frustration at not being able to laugh normally and exclaimed in disbelief.
He captioned the post, alongside a crying emoji, “Soooo lost control of the right side of my face.”
The 26-year-old, then took to his Story to both shed more on and make light of the situation.
In a video, Lil Nas expressed, “I’m really feeling this!” as he playfully moved the camera across his face while laughing. “We’re usually cool, but things can get wild here sometimes.
However, with fans voicing their concerns, the Grammy-winning artist instead asked for their backing during this challenging time.
In a later part of the narrative, he assured everyone, “I’m doing fine!” Later on, he playfully suggested, “Instead of being sad, why don’t you dance for me?
As he noted, “Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”
In a short while, messages of goodwill flooded the “MONTERO” artist’s post, coming from both fans and fellow artists. Among these well-wishers was Niecy Nash, who didn’t just offer affection to Lil Nas but also shared some words of wisdom alongside her warm sentiments.
In her message, the actress from Selma expressed her hope for a swift healing process, adding that “hot compresses multiple times a day have been incredibly beneficial for my mother in a similar situation.
Taraji P. Henson added, alongside prayer hand emojis, “Get well baby.”
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to shed light on a lesser-known fact: Just like Lil Nas X, Justin Bieber is also no stranger to health challenges related to facial movement. In 2022, the renowned artist openly disclosed his diagnosis with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, a condition that affected his facial muscles.
He stated in a previous Instagram video that the virus affecting him targets the nerves in his ear and facial area, leading to facial paralysis. Noticeably, one of his eyes does not blink, he is unable to smile from one side of his face, and that particular nostril does not respond.
The health challenge even caused the “Baby” singer to cancel shows.
Folks, let me be honest here – it’s a tough pill to swallow, but my body is urging me to take a break. I really didn’t want this, but the signs are clear that I need to pace myself. I hope you all get where I’m coming from, and I’ll be using this time off to unwind, recharge, and get back on track so I can continue living my passion to the fullest.
Thankfully, nine months later Justin shared with fans he’d regained full mobility in his face.

In his Trading Secrets podcast on March 24, he remarked, “I’m feeling quite tingly from the soles of my feet to my knees right now, which is astonishing.” To clarify, just a few weeks, maybe even a month ago, he was squatting around 295 pounds. Now, I can barely manage a single-leg squat without falling – it’s as if I suffered a stroke or something similar.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”
In December 2024, a player in the American Hockey League had his skin sewed up with 25 stitches after getting injured by another player’s skate during a game. In February 2025, an actress from Even Stevens disclosed that she had been accidentally shot in the face during a trip where they were shooting clay pigeons to celebrate her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday.
In her Instagram post, she shared that there was another group present who mistakenly fired their gun in the wrong direction, striking her in the face. Immediately after, @thebrendanrooney reacted swiftly, evaluated my condition, and rushed me to the hospital. I sustained injuries in five locations, with one wound being just under an inch away from directly hitting my right eye.
The former star of “Kim Possible” went on to say, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck at the back of my eye, and it’s not safe for surgery right now. My doctors will keep an eye on me (currently, I can see just fine).
She expressed her gratitude for still being alive, stating, “My affection for my daughters, husband, family, and friends runs incredibly deep.” Recounting a near-death experience, she urged everyone to seize opportunities to embrace the people around them. “In a heartbeat,” she said, “life can take an unexpected turn. Cherish those close to you and share your love whenever possible.
Despite the occasional harshness on the internet, Amy Schumer is grateful for its role in helping her uncover answers about her health. In a 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy, she reflected on the backlash she received following media interviews, saying, “The internet really went after me, and I was like, ‘Everybody calm down.'” However, medical professionals started commenting, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome due to abnormal facial changes. Surprised by this, Amy thought, “I’m getting trolled by doctors?”
After these medical professionals speculated that her condition could be caused by spiking cortisol levels or steroid injections, the creator of Life & Beth pondered, “Wait, I have been getting steroid injections in my scars.” She had undergone a breast reduction and C-section, and these treatments involved steroid injections. This eventually led to her developing Cushing syndrome, a condition she would not have known about without the internet’s scrutiny.
Now, Amy is simply relieved to learn that she is healthy. In a 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, she shared, “Learning that I have a type of Cushing syndrome that will resolve itself on its own was the best possible news.
Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening incident back in March 2022 while having breakfast with husband Justin Bieber. She suddenly started exhibiting symptoms similar to a stroke, such as speech difficulties and facial drooping. Sharing her story on YouTube a month later, Hailey recalled that she couldn’t respond when Justin asked if she was alright, and eventually lost the ability to speak entirely.
Upon realizing something was wrong, Hailey went to the hospital where they found a small blood clot in her brain, which was identified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Later, further examinations at the University of California, Los Angeles revealed that she had a hole in her heart called patent foramen ovale (PFO). The blood clot had apparently traveled into her heart, escaped through the PFO, and reached her brain, causing the TIA.
After undergoing a successful procedure to close the PFO, Hailey is now feeling well.
In the same year that Hailey went through her health crisis, Justin also encountered one of his own. Specifically, in 2022, the “Baby” singer revealed he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome – a condition causing temporary paralysis to parts of his face, which led him to halt the rest of his Justice World Tour.
In an Instagram video at the time, Justin explained that this syndrome affected the nerve in his ear and facial nerves, resulting in facial paralysis. As he demonstrated, “You can see that this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move. So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”
He further shared with his followers that it became increasingly difficult for him to eat due to the condition. However, after a while, the paralysis subsided.
On a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America, Hailey expressed relief, stating, “He’s doing really well… He’s feeling a lot better. Obviously, it was just a very scary and random situation to happen, but he’s going to be totally OK and I’m just grateful that he’s fine.
Jamie Foxx initially preferred to keep the details of his April 2023 hospitalization confidential, but later decided to share his experiences. In Atlanta one day, he recounted in his 2024 Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was…” that he had a severe headache and asked for an aspirin, but before he could get it, he fainted and lost consciousness for approximately 20 days.
Upon visiting a doctor, who administered a cortisone injection and sent him home, Jamie’s sister Deidra Dixon became concerned and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered that Jamie had suffered a brain bleed leading to a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 20th day, Jamie woke up on May 4 in a wheelchair and was unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.
“I want to express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “as I truly needed them all.
Actress Emilia Clarke, known for her work on Game of Thrones, penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” in The New Yorker. In the piece, she recounted a health crisis that occurred during a workout at the gym: she fell ill and was later diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She underwent immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm, which she described as excruciatingly painful. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia and struggled with speaking coherently.
Fortunately, Emilia made a full recovery and was able to leave the hospital after a month. However, in 2013, a growth that had been detected during a previous scan doubled in size, requiring additional surgery. The procedure was unsuccessful, and she faced a precarious situation as the doctors needed to perform another operation through her skull to access her brain.
Thankfully, Emilia is now in good health and has made a full recovery.
Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family. In January 2024, after experiencing a severe stroke, they were quick to provide support and care for her. When she informed them about the incident in December 2024, telling TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi, “Everyone came to my rescue.”
Due to additional health complications related to lupus, Cori’s hospital stay was prolonged beyond what she had anticipated. As she stated in the show Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story, “I could have gone home after my stroke, but my lupus wasn’t doing well. My kidneys were failing, there was a lot going on.”
Thankfully, today Cori is recovering. She shared that she’s “doing great,” and although she needed to regain some motor skills, overall, she was in good condition.
Shailene Woodley experienced numerous health issues during her early twenties, including hearing loss, fatigue, stomach problems, and other complications. She sought help from both conventional medical doctors and alternative healers for a decade as she struggled with various diagnoses. This journey also led to mental struggles such as fear of food due to stomach pain, body dysmorphia, identity confusion, and feelings of insecurity and uncertainty about her own body. Thankfully, after addressing both her physical and mental health concerns, Shailene is now healthy and happy.
