Summary
- Raider is the newest Elden Ring Nightreign class to be announced.
- In a new trailer, the Raider is shown crushing foes with a massive hammer.
- With two heroes left to be revealed, fans can anticipate more character trailers leading up to the game’s May 30 launch date.
The most recent character unveiled before the launch of Elden Ring is named Raider. This new class offers a battle royale-style cooperative multiplayer experience where players join forces in teams of three to traverse an evolving replica of Limgrave, the starting region of Elden Ring, over the span of three game days. The objective is to defeat the Nightlord.
In a departure from most FromSoftware Souls games, where players can create and customize their characters, the eight playable characters in Elden Ring Nightreign, known as the Nightfarers, have set appearances. Each character functions as a unique class with specific abilities, but allows for flexibility in terms of weapon usage based on how the player develops the hero during gameplay. So far, FromSoftware has introduced Wylder, a versatile character serving as the face of Elden Ring Nightreign; Guardian, a heavy sentinel with a hawk-like head; Recluse, the mage of Elden Ring Nightreign; Duchess, a swift dexterity-based assassin; and Ironeye, an accomplished archer.
FromSoftware has shared another character reveal for Elden Ring, focusing on a robust character known as Raider. Although the specific skills and talents that Raider will bring to Elden Ring are yet to be detailed on their official website, there’s much to infer from the over-minute-long gameplay trailer. Sporting what seems to be Omen horns, the trailer shows Raider crushing enemies with a colossal hammer, suggesting he may serve as an alternate heavy character choice for Elden Ring players alongside Guardian.
Elden Ring Nightreign Raider Class Revealed
It appears that one of Raider’s significant skills may provide advantages not only for himself but also his teammates. In the preview, Raider is depicted summoning a large platform beneath him, elevating him several feet, providing high ground. A teammate like Ironeye can be seen scaling the platform to attack from above, while ranged hero Recluse should find this ability particularly useful due to Elden Ring’s spellcasting mechanics requiring distance from aggressive foes. Another of Raider’s abilities hinted at in the trailer shows him assuming a unique stance that enables him to absorb an enemy attack and retaliate with a powerful headbutt.
As a gaming enthusiast eagerly awaiting the launch of Elden Ring Nightreign next month (May 30), six out of eight heroes have been unveiled so far. With Raider being revealed only a week ago, it’s possible that FromSoftware might release the next character trailer as early as next week. The upcoming reveal could feature either the sword-wielding knight hinted at in the initial Nightreign trailer or a completely new, enigmatic character yet to be seen – we’ll have to stay tuned to FromSoftware’s social media for updates!
