Jessica Biel’s time on 7th Heaven wasn’t always a slam dunk.
In a reminiscence of her past, the actress who portrayed Mary Camden in the dramatic TV show, looked back at her initially uncomfortable audition for that role, sharing anecdotes about utilizing her character’s passion for basketball to bolster her acting delivery.
Jessica shared during the Catching Up With The Camdens podcast on March 31 that she found the character to be appealing because they were both athletes – she was a basketball player and Jessica was an athlete too. She recalled herself saying, “Ah, I can relate to this,” at the time. Notably, when she auditioned for the role, she mimicked the character’s gesture of spinning a basketball on her finger without actually having one present.
In a casual and clear manner: The 47-year-old woman, mother to sons Silas (10) and Phineas (4), along with her husband Justin Timberlake, mentioned that the decision was something they chose, showing obvious discomfort as she recalled it.
She playfully told hosts Beverley Mitchell, David Gallagher, and Mackenzie Rosman, who were her TV family, “I was pretending to juggle an unseen ball.” She admitted feeling a bit awkward about it, but perhaps it added to the effect.
Indeed, that was the case. Jessica played Mary, the eldest of seven siblings, for six seasons in the series from 1996 to 2006. Afterward, she decided to reduce her role on 7th Heaven to take part in other well-known productions, such as the 2003 release of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Although expanding her acting repertoire, she occasionally went back to 7th Heaven for its last seasons. Her short-lived return added a delightful twist to the developing storyline, but as time passed, Jessica came to understand that the role of Mary was quite limiting in character development.
The star of ‘Candy,’ in an interview for the ‘Awards Chatter’ podcast in May 2018, shared that she was raised in a family with strong religious beliefs and traditional teachings. At ages 14, 15, and 16, she expressed a desire to break free and try new things, such as changing her hairstyle or hair color. However, due to contractual obligations, she found herself unable to do so.

In 1991, JTT began his rise to stardom by portraying the intelligent and lovable middle child Randy Taylor on the show “Home Improvement”. During the 1990s, he also made appearances in films, such as lending his voice to young Simba in “The Lion King” (although it wasn’t him who sang), sharing the screen with Brad Renfro in the 1995 film “Tom and Huck”, and teaming up with Devon Sawa in the 1997 movie “Wild America”.
Instead of leaving “Home Improvement” in 1998 (when Randy went to Costa Rica), he chose to prioritize his education and continued acting in his spare time as part of his extracurricular activities.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve had the privilege of being part of the cast on “8 Simple Rules” back in 2004. Fast forward to 2013, I was thrilled to reconnect with my TV dad, Tim Allen, and collaborate with him in directing (and making an appearance in) several episodes of “Last Man Standing.” It’s always a pleasure to work alongside such talented individuals!
Though Justin Timberlake chose to retreat from public life, he still managed significant attention – for instance, his graduation from Columbia University in 2010. However, it’s not necessary for JT to appear on screen to make a big impact: Whenever paparazzi catch sight of him, those moments swiftly spread online like wildfire.
At such a young age, Lipnicki has made quite the impact in the movie industry, particularly when he matched wits with Tom Cruise in terms of charm in “Jerry Maguire” and almost stole the show with memorable lines. Following this, he appeared in the Stuart Little films, voiced Baby Tiger in Doctor Dolittle, starred in The Little Vampire and Little Mike, and even made an appearance on Dawson’s Creek. However, he decided to take a break from acting to enjoy a typical high school experience.
In his adult life, he continues to work in the entertainment industry, featuring in the 2023 Lifetime film titled “Secrets at the Museum”. Born in Los Angeles, this individual is not just an actor but also holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In May 2021, demonstrating his commitment to community safety, he offered his services as additional security outside a city synagogue due to a surge in anti-Semitic incidents.
2017 saw Lipnicki openly discuss on Instagram about the bullying he faced during his middle school years. He hoped that by sharing his story, it might offer solace to others who have gone through similar experiences.
Once upon a time, I was mercilessly ridiculed by some ungracious individuals who, I presume, eventually moved on from their past misdeeds and attempted to reconnect with me via Facebook. They labeled me as a washed-up failure, claiming I’d never work again in the industry. Each night, I was plagued by anxiety, dreading the impending humiliation the next day would bring.
However, here I am, still standing, and I can confidently say that I am incredibly thankful for the extraordinary life I have been blessed with. I hope to share my experience and offer a glimmer of hope to those who may be going through similar struggles: It DOES get better.
Wilson starred in Mrs. Doubtfire at 6 and Matilda at 9 before putting acting on the back burner.
In 2016, the author and activist published her memoir titled “Where Am I Now?: Tales of Girlhood and Unintended Celebrity.” She also made guest appearances on the television series “Broad City” and lent her voice to several animated shows such as “BoJack Horseman,” “Big Hero 6: The Series,” and “Helluva Boss.
In a 2021 op-Ed for the New York Times regarding the challenges of early fame for young women, Wilson reminisced about a time when someone I once thought was a friend asked me with a broad smile, “How does it feel to have reached your peak?” At that moment, I was at a loss for words. But now, I would respond differently. The question is misguided. I haven’t peaked because the story, what I call ‘The Narrative,’ is no longer being penned by someone else. Now, I get to write it myself.
By the time Gordon-Levitt took on the role of Tommy Solomon, a character portraying an alien disguised as a human family member, in “3rd Rock From the Sun”, which debuted in 1996 when he was 14 years old, he had already gained significant acting experience. Prior to this, he appeared as Demi Moore’s son in the thriller movie “The Jury” during the same year.
By the year 1999, he had become the charming love interest in “10 Things I Hate About You,” a character who was a streetwise hustler in “Mysterious Skin” of 2004, and a determined high school detective trying to uncover the truth about his missing girlfriend in the noir drama “Brick” of 2005.
Gordon-Levitt, despite appearing youthful even into his thirties, has made a name for himself with notable roles as an adult, such as those in “500 Days of Summer,” “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” “Inception,” “50/50,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Looper,” “Lincoln,” “Don Jon” (which he also wrote and directed), and “Snowden.” He delved deeper into historical moments in the 2020 film “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and portrayed Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick in the series “Super Pumped.
He quietly married Tasha McCauley in 2014 and they share two children.
At the tender age of 12, in the movie The Professional released in 1994, Portman’s exceptional, composed performance earned her a sense of seriousness and respect. This reputation she established early on has persisted throughout her career. From her initial breakthrough, she has appeared in major blockbusters such as Star Wars: Episodes I to III, the Thor series, and Avengers: Endgame, indie hits like Beautiful Girls and Garden State, comedies like Mars Attacks! and Your Highness, intense dramas including Closer and Brothers, and apocalyptic thrillers such as V for Vendetta and Annihilation.
In 2010, she clinched the Best Actress Oscar for her role as a ballerina losing her sanity in “Black Swan.” This performance also earned another nomination when she portrayed Jacqueline Kennedy following her husband’s death in the film “Jackie.” Her first directorial venture came with the 2015 release of “A Tale of Love and Darkness,” an adaptation from Amos Oz’s autobiographical novel.
In the year 2012, she wed her choreographer, Benjamin Millepied, who is known as the Black Swan. Together they have a son named Aleph and a daughter called Amalia. However, they parted ways and finalized their divorce in 2024.
Jones gained popularity as the character of Jon Cryer’s downtrodden divorcee (and Charlie Sheen’s playboy songwriter’s nephew) on the successful sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’ during the 2000s. In 2012, a video emerged online where Jones criticized the show, labeling it as “filth.” The clip was taken from a 15-minute spiritual talk for Forerunner Chronicles, an Alabama-based Seventh-day Adventist ministry.
Later on, Jones expressed regret for exhibiting a careless attitude towards my coworkers, failing to respect them, and not fully acknowledging the remarkable chance that I’ve been given.
The actor soon left the series, but returned for the finale in 2015.
During his final season as a regular actor on the CBS sitcom, Jones stated to Houston TV station KHOU that the show often joked about serious issues in our society which are actual struggles for many people. He admitted he was being paid to act, yet he wasn’t comfortable with this, as he wasn’t agreeable with the light-hearted approach towards these problems, but continued to participate anyway.
As a devoted follower, my most recent acting credit prior to earning an unaccredited role in the 2023 Max series “Bookie,” was the 2016 limited series of Louis C.K., titled “Horace & Pete.
Back in 2016, I shared with People that I spent my days at the University of Colorado at Boulder, leading what I termed a “regular life.” For quite some time, I had a rather pessimistic outlook, but now, I’m embracing the joy and making the most of where I am. I no longer feel as if I’m walking on a minefield with each step I take.
Discussing actors who might have been tied to one famous role for life, Daniel Radcliffe has impressively diversified his roles. Whether he’s performing in stage productions like “Equus” and “The Cripple of Inishmaan,” or musicals such as “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”; acting as Allen Ginsberg in “Kill Your Darlings” or a flatulent corpse in “Swiss Army Man”; or portraying an opioid-addicted doctor on TV in “A Young Doctor’s Notebook,” Radcliffe has consistently challenged himself and shown his versatility.
More recently, he concluded a four-season stint on “Miracle Workers,” took on the lead role in “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,” and reprised his performance on Broadway in “Merrily We Roll Along.
On a personal note, Radcliffe is dad to a son with longtime partner Erin Darke.
At about six years old, she first appeared on screen in the spinoff of the Andy Griffith Show titled Mayberry R.F.D., and at just 14, she received her first Oscar nomination for her role as a girl exploited by a sinister pimp in Taxi Driver. This tragic situation ultimately prompted Robert De Niro’s character, Travis Bickle, to resort to violent measures. In the same year of 1976, Foster starred in the original Freaky Friday, a significant contrast to the gritty tone of Taxi Driver, which further solidified her status as a popular child actor within mainstream cinema.
A diligent learner temporarily halted her studies to enroll at Yale University. Following this pause, she resumed her ascent and achieved her first Oscar win for Best Supporting Actress, portraying a rape victim who pursues justice against her assailants in the 1988 film “The Accused“. Her directorial debut was with “Little Man Tate” in 1991. A year later, she clinched another Oscar for Best Actress in the role of a determined FBI trainee in “The Silence of the Lambs“.
The artist, who is both an actress and director, received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the 2013 Golden Globes. In recent years, she has focused more on TV directing, overseeing episodes of House of Cards, Black Mirror, and Orange Is the New Black. Her significant film roles in the 21st century include Panic Room, Inside Man, Elysium, Hotel Artemis, and The Mauritanian, which unexpectedly won her a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in 2021.
In the real world, she is a mom to two boys from her former relationship with Cydney Bernard, and she tied the knot with photographer and filmmaker Alexandra Hedison in 2014.
It was only fitting that seasoned child actress Jodie Foster mentored Kristen Stewart during their mother-daughter roles in the 2002 thriller by David Fincher, “Panic Room.” Similar to her mentor, Stewart has had a complex journey with fame, but on an entirely new level after landing the highly sought-after and transformative role of Bella Swan in the “Twilight” series at approximately 16 years old.
In an interview with Stellar magazine in 2019, Stewart expressed that Foster seemed to believe he wouldn’t keep acting, a perception that was not based on his talent, but rather his humble demeanor. Stewart further explained, “As a child, it’s easy to see why she might have thought that about me. I love my job, but I can understand her perspective. I adore her.
Since wrapping up the five-film “Twilight” series, the actress who is also a Chanel muse has had no trouble finding new roles. Apart from her attempt to revive the “Charlie’s Angels” franchise in 2019, she has chosen to focus on more personal films. These include “The Clouds of Sils Maria,” where she was the first American actress to win a Cesar Award (the French equivalent of the Oscars), the mysterious drama “Personal Shopper,” and films like “Seberg” and “Spencer,” which are not strictly biographical in nature.
Since her well-known romance with Robert Pattinson concluded, Stewart has mostly been in relationships with women. She has been engaged to Dylan Meyer since the year 2021.
Decades prior to him mysteriously vanishing half of Earth’s population, the son of actor James Brolin initially found fame by portraying the cool yet exasperated big brother Brandon Walsh in the 1985 movie “The Goonies”.
Brolin accumulated an impressive filmography with numerous projects such as “Flirting With Disaster”, “Mimic”, “No Country for Old Men” (which earned him career resurgence and an Academy Award for Best Picture), “American Gangster”, “W.” where he portrayed the 43rd President George W. Bush, “Milk” earning a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his role as Dan White, the San Francisco councilman who assassinated Harvey Milk, “Jonah Hex”, “True Grit”, “Sicario”, “Deadpool 2”, and of course, “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame”, appearing in CGI as the supervillain Thanos, and the upcoming sci-fi epic “Dune” (both parts).
Josh Brolin has two kids from his first marriage to Alice Adair. After that, he was married to Diane Lane from 2004 to 2013. Since then, he and his current wife Kathryn Boyn, whom he wed in 2016, have had a daughter named Westlyn Reign Brolin in 2018, and another daughter, Chapel Grace Brolin, in December 2020.
At just 10 years old, she first appeared in movies, sharing screen time with Cher and Winona Ryder in both “Mermaids” (1990) and “The Addams Family,” where she portrayed the witty Wednesday Addams character. The following year, her performance was seen again.
1990s classics like Casper and Now and Then were part of a nostalgic era, followed by Claire Danes’ portrayal of intricate characters in movies such as The Opposite of Sex, Buffalo ’66, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Sleepy Hollow, Prozac Nation, Pumpkin, and Monster. In these films, she acted opposite Charlize Theron (who won an Oscar for her role) as the girlfriend of serial killer Aileen Wuornos.
For the past 30 years, most of Ricci’s activities have been exciting. This includes portraying a ’60s flight attendant in the series Pan Am, getting chained to a radiator in Black Snake Moan, and playing intriguing real-life women like Lizzie Borden, the ax murderer, in The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, Zelda Fitzgerald, an author and literary inspiration, in Z: The Beginning of Everything.
Ricci is mom to son Freddie with ex-husband James Heerdegen.
Back in December 2021, the celebrity known as “Yellowjackets” became a parent to a lovely girl named Cleopatra. She tied the knot with her hairstylist husband, Mark Hampton, who walked her down the aisle just a few months prior, in October of the same year.
Macaulay Culkin solidified his legendary status at just 10 years old with a memorable scream in “Home Alone,” but he had been honing his skills since the age of 5, appearing in TV movies like “Uncle Buck,” “Jacob’s Ladder,” and others. He took a nearly decade-long break after 1994’s “Ri¢hie Ri¢h,” but the musician and painter has occasionally returned to acting when he felt like it, primarily in smaller films that left a significant cultural impact such as “Party Monster” and “Saved.
Following his appearances on Adult Swim’s “Robot Chicken” and playing a barista version of himself on “The Jim Gaffigan Show,” Macaulay Culkin is expected to join the 10th season of “American Horror Story,” scheduled to air in 2021, assuming all pandemic safety measures are properly addressed.
The actor is currently betrothed to Brenda Song and together they have two sons: Dakota Song Culkin, named after the actor’s late older sister Dakota who passed away in a car accident in 2008, and Carson, who first appeared in public at his father’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on December 1, 2023 when he was one year old.
It appears that Dakota transitioned from acting roles such as Ally McBeal’s 5-year-old self and Sean Penn’s 6-year-old daughter in “I Am Sam,” to forging a path as the first female police department employee turned private detective in the period drama “The Alienist” surprisingly quickly. However, this was not an overnight transformation.
She’s been putting in an immense amount of effort for over 20 years, delivering standout performances in films such as Uptown Girls, Man on Fire, Hide and Seek, War of the Worlds, Charlotte’s Web, The Secret Life of Bees, three Twilight movies, American Pastoral, and Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. Notably, she portrayed real-life follower of Charles Manson, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, in one of these films.
Besides playing a role in the movie “The Nightingale” alongside her younger sister Elle Fanning, she’s also set to take the lead in an adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s classic novel, “The Bell Jar”. This story, which is Plath’s only novel, revolves around a young woman struggling with mental illness during the 1950s.
She initially found fame portraying the two-year-old variant of her sister Dakota’s character in “I Am Sam,” but Mischa Barton has carved out a unique path for herself as an actress, distinctly setting herself apart from her similarly successful sister.
She gathered numerous roles as the child of established film stars in movies like “Daddy Day Care,” “The Door in the Floor,” “Babel,” and “Reservation Road.” Additionally, she made appearances on several installments of the “CSI” series, “Criminal Minds,” “House,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and probably other shows that were likely beyond her age when she was acting in them. However, as a teenager and into her twenties, her film work remained diverse, encompassing family films (“We Bought a Zoo” and “Maleficent”), young adult genres (“Super 8” and “Twixt”), high-profile dramas (“Trumbo,” “20th Century Women”), and surreal fantasies (“The Neon Demon” and “The Beguiled”).
In my journey, I’ve had the privilege of embodying Mary Shelley in a film bearing her namesake and Catherine the Great in the witty Hulu series, ‘The Great’. Next up, you’ll find me teaming with Dakota Fanning for an unforgettable portrayal of sisters in the highly anticipated cinematic adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s epic novel set during World War II, ‘The Nightingale’.
Over time, the actress and vocalist who first gained fame on Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire” has matured. After her breakout role, she smoothly transitioned into roles suitable for families like “Agent Cody Banks,” “Cheaper by the Dozen,” and “A Cinderella Story.
However, following a period where she seemed to take a less prominent role, Duff has shone once more in Younger, portraying a character with hidden depth alongside Sutton Foster’s character who is pretending to be a millennial in the critically acclaimed TV Land series. The series is set to return for its seventh season. While the idea of a spin-off focusing on Duff’s Younger character Kelsey is intriguing, fans eagerly anticipated her reappearance as Lizzie, particularly in the planned Disney+ reboot. Unfortunately, the revival of this beloved series has been delayed.
She has since starred in two seasons of How I Met Your Father.
Duff and hockey player Mike Comrie, the father of their son Luca Comrie, parted ways in 2014 after nearly four years of marriage, eventually finalizing their divorce. Later, she and songwriter Matthew Koma became parents to daughter Banks Violet Bair in 2018, and got married in 2019. In 2021, they added two more daughters, Mae James Bair, and Townes Meadow Bair, completing their family in May 2024.
As a dedicated admirer, I found myself deeply influenced by the younger sibling of Kirk Cameron from “Growing Pains,” who graced our screens as the studious eldest Tanner sister D.J. on the iconic sitcom “Full House.” Airing from 1987 to 1995, she set a trend for 12-year-olds everywhere with her fashionable crimped hairstyle.
She has appeared in numerous TV films, some of which convey powerful messages, like the 1996 production “No One Would Tell,” which is based on a true account of a high school student who was brutally murdered by her 16-year-old boyfriend after enduring his abuse for months in silence. (Yes, it still resonates deeply.)
More recently, following a two-season stint as a co-host on “The View,” and rejoining almost the entire Tanner family for five seasons of “Fuller House” on Netflix, Candace has risen to prominence. She is now a key figure in Hallmark Channel’s Christmas programming, and stars in their Aurora Teagarden murder-mystery series, which is based on books by Charlaine Harris.
In 2021, she marked the 25th anniversary of her marriage to the ex-NHL player Valeri Bure, and together they have three children.
Following her role as the middle sister Stephanie Tanner on ‘Full House’ for eight consecutive seasons, Sweetin battled with substance abuse issues, a struggle she openly detailed in her 2009 autobiography titled ‘unSweetined’.
From 2002 to 2016, three marriages contributed to the buzz surrounding her personal life, along with her short-lived engagement to Justin Hodak. Hodak had numerous problems, culminating in his violation of a restraining order against him and his subsequent imprisonment in 2019 for over six years due to illegal possession of a deadly weapon and falsification of evidence.
Since 2008, the mother of daughters Zoie and Beatrix has been sober. She reappeared in the Tanner family for five seasons on Netflix’s “Fuller House” and has acted in various films on the Hallmark Channel. Notable performances include the Christmas movie “Merry and Bright” from 2019 and the romantic comedy “Just Swipe.
The character of Michelle Tanner, who evolved from a curious baby to a smart 6-year-old on the iconic ABC sitcom Full House, was portrayed by not one, but two actors. These talented twins capitalized on their fame and went on to create a string of films for both the big screen and direct-to-video, establish a production company, develop children’s clothing lines, write books, and produce various other products, thus building an expansive Olsen business empire.
After 2004’s “New York Minute,” Mary-Kate carried on her acting career, working on shows like “Weeds” and films such as “The Wackness” and “Beastly.” On the other hand, Ashley largely stepped away from acting and is now primarily known for her success in the fashion world. Together, they are renowned figures in the industry as co-founders of CFDA Award-winning brands The Row and Elizabeth & James.
Ashley quietly welcomed her first child with her longtime partner Louis Eisner in the year 2023. On the other hand, Mary-Kate got married to Olivier Sarkozy in 2015 and decided to file for divorce in 2020.
Before achieving fame as a movie star, an Oscar winner for The Revenant, and living the high life on yachts with model girlfriends, he was once a homeless teenager named Luke, who joined the Seaver family on Growing Pains in 1991. Known for his youthful appearance even beyond his teenage years (he was already 16 on GP and had been acting for several years), DiCaprio earned his first of six Oscar nominations for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, playing troubled characters in movies like A Boy’s Life, The Basketball Diaries, Marvin’s Room, and Romeo + Juliet, where he grappled with love troubles.
He still kinda looked like a kid in Titanic, but at 22 he had reached full-on heartthrob status.
For about ten years, DiCaprio has been featured in movies like Inception, The Wolf of Wall Street, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, The Revenant (receiving his initial Best Actor Academy Award), and Killers of the Flower Moon.
Accio, adulthood!
Moving past her successful debut as Hermione Granger in eight Harry Potter movies, the British actress then took on roles in Young Adult films like The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Bling Ring. She also acted alongside Tom Hanks in The Circle, and has utilized her influence as a UN Goodwill Ambassador to promote women’s empowerment and fight for gender equality globally.
Originally from New Mexico, this individual made an impressive debut at the age of 15, receiving a Golden Globe nomination for his role as a melancholic boy who forms a connection with the family’s housekeeper in the 1988 television movie “Clara’s Heart”. However, the actor who became famous for the dramedy “Doogie Howser, M.D.”, where he portrayed a 16-year-old genius doctor, appeared to have faced difficulties in his career. This apparent struggle served as a basis for him to mock himself when he hilariously spoofed himself in the film “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle”.
Despite a brief period of rest from the intense Hollywood lifestyle he led as a youth, he still managed to immerse himself in theater, appearing in three Broadway productions. Eventually, the perfect television role came along in the form of Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother, for which he received four Emmy nominations. In 2010, his talent was recognized with three Emmy nominations and two wins – one for co-producing the 2009 Tony Awards and another for his guest appearance on Glee.
This versatile entertainer, skilled in acting, singing, dancing, and even magic, has hosted the Tonys on four occasions (winning an Emmy for outstanding special class programming each time as a producer). He’s also taken home the Emmys twice and once the Oscar in 2015. In addition, he was awarded a Tony in 2014 for Best Actor in a Musical, shining as the lead in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
In 2010, Harris and his long-term companion, David Burtka, became parents to twins, Gideon and Harper, through surrogacy. They officially got married in 2014.
When she was just 4 years old, she charmed everyone as the adorable Olivia on The Cosby Show. Later, she starred in movies like The Little Rascals, Doctor Dolittle, and its sequel. In 2003, she took center stage with her own beloved Disney Channel sitcom, That’s So Raven. During this time, she also made appearances on various other Disney productions such as The Cheetah Girls, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Kim Possible, and Sonny With a Chance.
Following the conclusion of her show in 2007, Raven-Symoné’s television work expanded to include roles in shows such as American Dad, Nashville, State of Georgia, The Jim Gaffigan Show, Master of None, Drunk History, and she has been a recurring character on Black-ish since 2015. Additionally, Raven-Symoné served as a co-host on The View for three seasons and in June 2020, she got married to Miranda Maday.
