Daredevil: Born Again Has a Major Post-Credits Twist

The show Daredevil: Reborn has led viewers through a complex tale, commencing with the heartbreaking demise of Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) at the hands of Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). This was followed by Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) choice to relinquish his vigilante identity and his subsequent return to it when the serial killer Muse endangered New York City. As Daredevil: Reborn nears its season finale, audiences are witnessing the inevitable confrontation between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) that has been brewing throughout the nine episodes of this season. The Disney+ series has skillfully reintroduced the Man Without Fear to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, retaining the raw, street-level storytelling that made the initial Netflix series so cherished by fans. With Season 2 already in production, there’s a lot of excitement regarding how this season will end and what hints might be dropped for future narratives.

As the battle against Mayor Fisk’s corruption reaches its peak in Daredevil: Born Again, some viewers might ponder whether they should stay tuned after the end credits for extra content, considering Marvel Studios’ habit of including post-credits scenes. True to form with an MCU tale, this series does contain a post-credits scene in its final episode. However, unlike previous instances that often hint at the next season, this scene serves a different purpose. It doesn’t directly foreshadow Season 2 of the show but rather lays foundations for another forthcoming Marvel project. SPOILERS AHEAD!

What Happens in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 Post-Credit Scene?

At the end of Daredevil: Born Again, the character played by Jon Bernthal, known as Frank Castle or the Punisher, puts on his iconic vest one last time to assist Matt in battling Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Enraged by the abuse of the Punisher symbol by corrupt police officers, Frank embarks on a mission to find and punish these wrongdoers himself. He successfully eliminates numerous unscrupulous cops before ultimately being overpowered. One of the episode’s most impactful moments occurs when Officer Powell (Hamish Allan-Headley) attempts to recruit the Punisher, an offer he firmly declines. In response, Powell orders his henchman to mercilessly attack the Punisher.

In a post-credits sequence, I find myself shackled within a cage situated at the Red Hook port facility that the Fisks have transformed into their private prison complex. In this scene, I skillfully manipulate the guard tasked with monitoring me, exploiting his own fascination with the Punisher. I feign camaraderie with him, eventually extending a handshake. Once I’ve gripped his hand, I swiftly seize his arm and snap it in two. The screen dims as we listen to the sound of my cage unlocking.

Given that Jon Bernthal is currently involved with The Punisher Special Presentation, it’s reasonable to infer that the post-credits scene in Daredevil: Born Again could be hinting at Frank Castle’s impending journey. Beyond his confinement, the Punisher will likely need to battle against every Task Force officer standing in his path to gain his freedom. It’s also probable that he’ll assist in freeing other prisoners, aiding Daredevil’s rebellion movement. This setup seems tailor-made for an intense, one-hour adventure leading up to the second season premiere of Daredevil: Born Again.

In the series “Daredevil: Born Again,” we’ve seen links to other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) stories. For instance, we met Ms. Marvel’s father, Yusuf Khan (played by Mohan Kapur), and Jack Duquesne/Swordsman (portrayed by Tony Dalton), who were characters from “Hawkeye.” The show also referenced Spider-Man’s ongoing heroics following the events of “No Way Home” and hinted at the public knowledge about Skrulls, as suggested in “Secret Invasion“. The post-credits scene further maintains this trend of interconnectedness by directly pointing towards potential future content.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale premieres on Disney+ on  Tuesday, April 15th.
