On PlayStation 5, Days Gone delivers an impressive visual and performance upgrade thanks to backwards compatibility. This has sparked curiosity among many about what further improvements could be made in the upcoming remastered version of the game.
It’s clear that the Horde Assault mode is included, boosting the number of Freakers visible to around 800. However, let’s discuss the game’s overall aesthetic appeal as well.
In his conversation with the PlayStation Blog, our creative and product lead, Kevin McAllister, mentioned that the visual enhancements we’ve implemented are noticeable.
In this updated version, the lighting has been enhanced, shadows are more detailed, and fog effects have been deepened. For instance, the nighttime scenes are now even darker, and the moon appears more authentic. The blue sky also looks more natural, adding to the game’s realistic feel. We’ve elevated this realism to a new standard with the PlayStation 5.
So far, the comparisons have primarily concentrated on the cutscenes, but they haven’t highlighted significant differences yet. Therefore, it will be intriguing to observe how the new visual enhancements significantly upgrade the overall presentation.
We, of course, won’t have to wait long to find out – the remaster’s due out on 25th April.
