Astro Bot’s Brilliant Bot of War Musical Remix Made God of War Composer Feel ‘So Proud’

One great aspect that makes Astro Bot exceptional is its captivating soundtrack, skillfully crafted by returning composer Kenny Young. Standout tracks include the ingenious remixes of melodies from classic PlayStation series, and now, the composer behind God of War’s last two games has expressed his thoughts upon hearing the delightful reinterpretation of his somber tunes.

Bear McCreary, who created the scores for both God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok, recently talked to VGC regarding “God of War,” a stage inspired by Santa Monica Studio’s renowned series.

The tune has a lively twist that fits the primary motif well, and McCreary admires both the game and its soundtrack significantly.

He mentioned that he shared his enthusiasm for Team Asobi’s game with them directly, as they had crossed paths at The Game Awards. He expressed his admiration for the game, particularly the “War Bot” level.

As a gamer, I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at an amazing project my friends from Santa Monica Studios were involved in, collaborating with Team Asobi on it. They were so excited about it that they urged me to check it out. Without even working alongside Kenny Young, the composer for Astro Bot, I knew he had nailed it perfectly.

He said the fresh take on the music gave him a new appreciation for his work on God of War.

In simpler terms, Kenny’s action was to create a unique connection between the song with the three notes and the game God of War. Even though these notes were reimagined in an upbeat, robotic-electronic style, they still evoked the feeling of God of War for him. This association fills him with immense pride because it signifies that he has created something truly impactful.
