Born Again” was an exhilarating journey from beginning to end. The storyline predominantly revolved around Matt Murdock coming to terms with Daredevil being a integral part of him and donning the suit once more after a year-long hiatus. Conversely, Wilson Fisk spent most of the season striving to live up to his claim of being a better man rather than the crime kingpin. The climax masterfully brought back both Daredevil and Kingpin, with each character showing greater commitment than ever before. Notably, Kingpin reached unprecedented levels of brutality that were startling even for a Disney production and left viewers shuddering. This underscored the fact that Fisk is no longer a law-abiding mayor as he claims to be; instead, he declared New York a police state under martial law, thereby granting himself and his accomplices license to kill at will.
Nevertheless, during the last few moments of the final episode, there was one instance that powerfully illustrated the ruthless and self-centered nature of Kingpin, subtly reflecting the present condition in our world through the lens of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kingpin’s Cruelty Reaches New Heights in the Season Finale
Following the imposition of a curfew, the implementation of martial law, the assassination of the Police Commissioner, and the deployment of his elite enforcers – dubbed the Anti-Vigilante Task Force – to hunt down adversaries, Fisk now faces no obstacles whatsoever. He disregards bureaucratic regulations, legal procedures, and any semblance of fear towards the law. Accompanied by his wife Vanessa, who shares equal influence as Fisk in their criminal empire, they casually stroll through the same premises where Fisk had previously held Adam – a former lover of Vanessa’s – captive. As they progress through the warehouse, dressed elegantly and seemingly invincible, the revelation becomes increasingly gruesome.
Along the walls of the spacious warehouse are dog kennels, but as Fisk and Vanessa stroll by in their elegant attire, the reality is startling: these kennels imprison those who dared to criticize Fisk – dissenters, politicians who refused bribes, and even a sword-wielding vigilante, Jacques Duquesne. The endless rows of cages are a chilling sight, making time seem to stand still due to their shocking contents, until Fisk arrives at the final cage holding a shackled Frank Castle (the Punisher).
One user on X stated that the Fisk duo continues to behave in a terrifying manner, executing people and confining them in PRISON CELLS, then nonchalantly enjoying a meal together – this is TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE!
“Lowkey hitting close to reality,” another added.
A viewer raised an objection regarding a particular aspect, “I find numerous issues with the final scene showing Fisk imprisoning all the vigilantes – it contradicts Wilson Fisk’s character. He doesn’t seek to incarcerate or restrict; instead, he wants to demonstrate that he’s superior even in your happiest moments.
Frank Castle Will Never Submit So Easily
Previously, when Fisk disrupted Manhattan’s power grid, his Anti-Vigilante Squad traced Punisher’s location, armed heavily with the intention to apprehend him. However, Punisher had no plans of surrender and swiftly eliminated a significant number of the squad before they overpowered him, rendering him unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness, Frank found himself tied to a chair facing the Anti-Vigilante Squad, who presented him with an ultimatum: either join their team or face the repercussions.
REALTED: How Daredevil: Born Again’s Post-Credit Scene Sets Up an MCU Punisher Story
For the viewers, it becomes clear that Frank might meet a tragic end. Frank justifiably argues that the task force has no insight into him or his hardships; they have no business glorifying him and using his symbol to carry out violent acts because they are corrupt cops, free to act maliciously under Fisk’s control. Frank staunchly (and bluntly) refuses to join their twisted hit team. The task force subsequently confronts him, leaving his situation uncertain for now. It isn’t until Frank is found shackled in one of Fisk’s cages that his destiny becomes clear.
Art Imitates Life in a Harrowing Way in the Daredevil: Born Again Season Finale
The image of humans confined in cages evokes a chilling reminder of actual political situations, revealing some of the sinister aspects that can arise when those in authority view others as inferior or distant. Since Fisk holds significant power and feels immune to consequences, he finds it easier, even justified in his mind, to treat his enemies like animals by locking them up in cages.
In the final episode of “Daredevil: Born Again,” it reflected a grim image of our society, revealing just how far an individual with immense power but questionable ethics—such as Kingpin—would be willing to push boundaries in order to achieve his desires.
