John Mulaney's Heartwarming Wedding Surprise for Olivia Munn

John Mulaney pulled out all the stops for his wedding day.

In July of 2024, the host of “Everybody’s Live” and Olivia Munn tied the knot in a private New York City ceremony. Prior to their daughter Méi’s birth seven months later, the actress shared that her husband had presented her with an incredibly thoughtful gift, personalized for their new addition.

Olivia shared on the Kelly Clarkson Show (April 16) that their daughter was born through a surrogate since Olivia couldn’t carry her. “I felt quite sad about it,” said Olivia, who is also mother to son Malcolm, aged 3. “I expressed my feelings to John, saying I wish she was here already, as when she looks back at the day we got married, Malcolm will be there but she won’t.

As Olivia, 44, explained, the comedian found a personal way to make sure Méi was present.

As a fervent admirer, I’d like to share a heartwarming moment: “I discovered this antique locket,” the shining star of Your Friends & Neighbors confided. “He placed my sonogram image within it and presented it to me as a surprise. The emotion was palpable; he’s incredibly thoughtful and sweet.

Over the Fourth of July weekend in New York City, Olivia and John, aged 42, exchanged vows during a private ceremony that was confirmed earlier by TopMob News. At this special event, their eldest child, Malcolm, graced the occasion. The ceremony was officiated by none other than Olivia’s co-star from Newsroom, Sam Waterston.

John mentioned on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 10 that our wedding guest wore a tiny tuxedo and shorts. He even shared an unusual incident, stating that this person needed to use the restroom during the ceremony while wearing a diaper and announced it right in the middle of the vows.

Revisiting the scene with a chuckle, he remarked, “There was this tiny, perspiring two-year-old in a tuxedo who exclaimed, ‘I’m having a bowel movement!’

More recently, the actress who played X-Men shared thoughts on her surrogacy experience, a path she took following her 2023 cancer diagnosis.

In her interview with Self magazine on April 10, Olivia expressed that the most unexpected aspect of her surrogacy journey was the disappearance of the sorrow she felt about not being able to carry her daughter, once she had faith and dreams invested in another woman. She knew this woman was kind-hearted and deeply caring, so she chose to focus on gratitude rather than dwelling on any fear, sadness, or worry.
