Following the debut of “Devil May Cry’s” first season on Netflix, the service swiftly confirmed plans for a second season. Given the significant cliffhanger at the end of the initial season, fans were thrilled to learn that characters Dante and Vergil would reappear in the upcoming installment. Although production on the second season has been confirmed, no footage from the new season had been shared – until now. Surprisingly, Netflix appears to have provided fans with a sneak peek at “Devil May Cry” season two through an unanticipated means: by releasing a new music video for one of the most popular bands on the animated series’ soundtrack.
Adi Shankar, the creator behind the series, has openly expressed his admiration for the Devil May Cry franchise. Prior to the Netflix adaptation, Shankar frequently cosplayed as the main character, even donning the costume at a recent WWE Raw event after the animation’s premiere. In selecting the music for the series, Shankar aimed to honor the heavy metal icons of the late ’90s and early 2000s by incorporating bands such as Papa Roach, Green Day, Rage Against The Machine, and others. The band Evanescence even produced an exclusive track for the animated adaptation, offering fans a sneak peek into season two through their latest music video.
Devil May Cry Season 2: Dante’s New Look
Though it hasn’t been officially verified that these fresh clips are from Devil May Cry’s second season, they seem to be from the upcoming episodes judging by their appearance in the background of the music video. The character Dante sports longer hair and a new attire in these clips, which fits with where we left off with our devil-slaying hero at the end of season one. Due to his kidnapping by Darkcom, Dante has been frozen, incapable of preventing the US government from invading Hell. However, the innocent demons of this world still have a guardian even with Dante behind bars, as his brother Vergil is taking on the responsibility. Devil May Cry’s Season 2 Villain
In the climactic finale of the first season, I caught a glimpse of a formidable antagonist who could shape the narrative of season two, and it’s not Vergil we should be wary of. Harking back to the original game series, Arius, the head of Uroboros in Devil May Cry 2, served as the villain. Despite the divisive reception of that sequel game among many players, Shankar seems determined to make this character a pivotal figure in the animated series’ upcoming storylines.
