Concludes the lengthy and financially successful run of the Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious series, which began in 2001. But it isn’t just fans who are eager for Universal to disclose the release date of Part 2; franchise star Vin Diesel is also seeking clarification from the studio about its plans.
In a recent post, Diesel expressed his excitement about the upcoming Part 2 of the series, urging Universal Studios to reveal the official release date for the final installment of the Fast & Furious saga. His original caption read, “Universal … Kindly inform the world’s best fans when the next film will be released. Please …”, but later he modified his post to express gratitude towards the loyal fans of the Fast & Furious franchise for their unwavering support.
As a dedicated fan of the Fast & Furious saga, I can share that Part 2, confirmed to be the final installment in 2023, has been somewhat quiet on the progress front lately. However, the word is out that the script for this epic finale is still under construction, with fellow franchise veteran Vin Diesel hinting at a promising direction for the screenplay and production this year.
In an interesting twist, it appears that scheduling challenges involving key stars like myself, Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Jason Momoa are contributing to the production hold-up. But fear not, fellow enthusiasts! Scott Eastwood, who’s also part of the cast, has reassured us that this project is a cherished “passion project” for Universal Studios, having earned them an impressive $7 billion worldwide in the Fast & Furious franchise. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait for more updates on this exciting journey!
Although filming for the Fast X sequel is temporarily paused, Diesel has been getting ready for the final chapter by engaging in behind-the-scenes tasks. Additionally, similar to what he did before for the 2009 Fast and Furious movie, he’s been dropping hints and teases as well.
In Part 2 of the Fast & Furious series, Dominic Toretto (played by Diesel) will once again take center stage. His character and his family find themselves in a life-or-death struggle following the destructive actions of the vengeful Dante Reyes (Momoa), as seen in Fast X. The upcoming film aims to revisit the core elements that made it famous, setting it apart from its predecessors as the final installment.
Louis Leterrier Directs Fast X: Part 2
Following the directorial role in “Fast X,” which garnered a mix of criticism from critics and a relatively low return on its substantial $340 million budget, but went on to gross $705 million globally. As the 11th installment in the Fast & Furious series, “Part 2” is also anticipated to honor the late Paul Walker, who played LAPD officer-turned-street racer Brian O’Conner alongside Diesel for seven films in the franchise.
Part 2 is scheduled to open in theaters in 2026.
