In the world of Star Wars, Diego Luna portrays a determined spy character in Andor. However, his real-life exploits almost landed him in trouble similar to a genuine espionage agent, and it was all due to Star Wars. As part of his promotional tour for Andor Season 2 and Star Wars events like Celebration and May the 4th, Luna visited Jimmy Kimmel Live. During this visit, Kimmel posed some curious questions about the souvenirs Luna took from filming Andor. While Luna didn’t engage in theft like other actors have confessed to, he did receive an official wrap present that caused him trouble.
After the end of ‘Andor’ Season 2, talk show host Kimmel was given a fake Star Wars blaster by Luna, who thought it would be simple to take on their journey. However, this turned out to be a misjudgment.
‘No, no, no! Don’t touch it!’ The thrill of my cinematic treasure nearly slipping through security’s watchful eyes added an unexpected adventure to my journey.
In that instance, Cassian Andor’s innate senses were activated, but things took an unexpected turn as the security guards, amusingly enough, had a completely different opinion of him due to another role: “One guy recognized me, but from Narcos, not from Star Wars. He exclaimed, ‘Whoa, hold on!’ It turned into quite a chaotic situation, and given that I was still recovering from the party, I wasn’t exactly looking my best – let’s just say I appeared somewhat disheveled.
Eventually, things settled, allowing Luna to eventually make her way home, accompanied by the blaster – following a lengthy process of completing numerous forms and addressing detailed inquiries.
Luna explained that they were asked to step outside, sign a document, and display pictures on their phone of a character holding a blaster, which also included toys as props. She managed to convince them in the end, but implied that the process was quite troublesome by adding “But…” to her sentence.
It’s amusing to learn that Diego Luna, known for his charm and soft-speak, nearly faced trouble due to a Star Wars prop. This incident only adds to the likability of this star, as it resonates with millions of fans who have found themselves explaining to airport security about their lightsabers, blasters, and other Star Wars souvenirs they carry to events like San Diego Comic-Con, Star Wars Celebration, and various other gatherings.
Star Wars: Andor Season 2 premieres on April 22nd on Disney+.
