Bungie is diving into the competitive shooter genre that combines player versus player and player versus environment gameplay, with Marathon being their fresh take on their old science fiction series from the ’90s.
It was exciting to watch the game unfold during the recent demonstration, yet it’s important to acknowledge that Bungie may not have fully clarified the complex aspects of their upcoming shooter to our satisfaction.
Although we weren’t able to try out the game during the recent previews, our enthusiasm for Bungie’s upcoming project significantly increased as we delved into various reviews and videos from those who did play it.
Our latest video on YouTube delves into the actual skills of Marathon’s runners and clarifies that they’re not as superhero-like as initially perceived, as well as explaining how loot functions within the game and its impact on overall game progression. Watch it to get all the essential details in a clear and compact format!
Despite eagerness to explore and understand more about Marathon, we’re eagerly anticipating the opportunity to delve into it. Admittedly, it’s a challenging field and Sony might still be reeling from the fallout of Concord.
Could Bungie possibly be aiming for a three-time victory by moving their primarily PC gaming experience to consoles again? They’ve achieved this with first-person shooters like Halo, with looter shooter MMOs like Destiny; could they now conquer the extraction shooter genre?
On PS5, there are some exceptional extractor shooter games such as Hunt: Showdown 1896. However, unlike Escape from Tarkov which has gained immense popularity on PC, this genre hasn’t quite found the same success in terms of console adoption.
Hey there fellow gamer! Are you planning to grab the new game when it launches on September 23rd, 2025? Or do you find that unannounced price tag a bit steep for your wallet? Feel free to share your thoughts on this in the comments below!
